    SG Written Assignment

Have the student complete the written assignment in a minimum of 1 paragraph, due Monday. Written Assignment: One of the marks of an outstanding writer is the ability to describe details you might not otherwise even notice or think about. This week, try your hand at describing something that is common in an extraordinary way. Use strong adjectives and adverbs. (1 paragraph)

WEEK 3: Written Assignment: When you are young and someone is always telling you what to do and how to do it, it is easy to wish you could make all the decisions, especially about your own life. Mary and Colin were given their own way in everything for as long as they can remember. What happened to them because of it? (1 paragraph) They became spoiled, selfish, tyrannical, useless, and disagreeable. No one wanted to be around them. Their only company was those who were paid to care for them. WEEK 4: Written Assignment: Explain why the Garden was such an attraction for Mary. (1 paragraph) The Garden was such an attraction for Mary, because it was so alive, whereas she had had such a lifeless life. The Garden took Mary's focus away from herself and allowed her to see real beauty, feel real empathy, hear life stirring, and experience the thrill of having and sharing a secret (which is one of the deepest pleasures of childhood). WEEK 5: Written assignment: Most people have had to rest in bed due to some illness or injury for at least a short period of time. Describe what it was like for you when you had to lie abed. (If you have never had to do it or if you can't remember what it was like, write about what you think it would be like to have to do it.) (1 paragraph minimum) Answers will vary
