The script will focus on the Golden Age of Dutch which is in the 17th century. We’ll focus on the 4 most important elements which are social strata, history, culture and tradition. There will be four separate scenes to show each element.

HISTORY (ART) – PAINTING

TRADITION – SINTERKLAAS AND ZWARTE PIET (CHRISTMAS)

CULTURE – DUTCH FOLK DANCE

Scene 1 : Depicts how modernism affected the society at that time. Here is when pillarization was introduced by Abraham Kuyper. There are four pillars, Catholic, Protestant, Liberal and Socialist which forms a segregation in the society. They gathered and explained their views on Calvinism.

Scene 2 : A painting by the famous painter in the Dutch history, Rembrandt is being featured. The Night Watch was chosen as it is the largest canvas painting in the Dutch history. Characters act out the content of the painting and then a painting frame is lifted show that it is a scene from the painting.

Scene 3 : Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet shows how Dutch tradition is during Christmas. The scene explains what happens during the Christmas night in Netherlands. Sending presents and taking back naughty kids for a year to teach them how to behave are Dutch’s tradtion.

Scene 4 : Tielman Susato is the famous musician that is the first to collect and publish songs and dance for Dutch. A short folk dance is performed to show the culture of the Dutch. Clogs are used in traditional folk dance.
