THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD

DEFINITION

• An organized way to solve a problem

STEPS

• Observe-something that is noticed and wondered about• Question- This asks WHY something happens• Collect Data-find out as much as you can about

your question• Hypothesis- educated guess about what the

answer to your question might be based on the information you collected

STEPS CONTINUED

• Experiment- test your hypothesis• Analysis- compile results of experiment• Conclusions- was your hypothesis supported?• If so, re-test to make sure your conclusions are accurate• If not, use what you learned to create another hypothesis

and test it

HOW THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD APPLIES TO THE 80/20 PROJECT

• We will all use the first few steps – - Observe- Question- Collect data

• The rest of the project will look different depending on what your group decides to do.

• All groups will follow up to see if their chosen solution was affective
