ART DEPARTMENT SUCCESS
More good news for The Sandon School Art Department!
The Essex County Council Cultural Development Officer, Andrew Ward, has chosen students from The Sandon School to have their art work displayed at County Hall. This is an opportunity for students from years 7, 8 and 9 to get their art work up on display for staff and visitors to County Hall to enjoy.
A selection of the very best work produced by the students will be chosen by the Art department to go on display in the summer.
So good luck to all students and keep working hard on your wonderful final pieces.

CHALLENGER TROOP PROGRAMME
Congratulations to Chanel Tricker in year 9 who has successfully completed the 12 week Challenger Troop programme. The military-based programme involved a number of gruelling and challenging activities. These included adventure training, fieldcraft and bushcraft activities, all of which were designed to build personal development skills including self-confidence, resilience and self-discipline.
Awards were presented at St John Payne School last week and Chanel received a special mention for her resilience on the course.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT On Thursday, 15 December 2016 the Sandon School held its yearly Christmas Concert. This included a range of musical performances and displayed students from Year 7 to Year 13 in both group and solo pieces. There were performances from all of our Music Ensembles: Sandon Chamber Choir, Raw Rhythm, Brass Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble, Stax of Sax, Year 7 Choir and Young Singing Leaders, Flute Choir and Concert Band.
Our only solo performance of the night came from Ellie Parkhurst who beautifully played Silent Night on Acoustic Guitar. All groups performed excellently and some particular highlights include Raw Rhythm’s ‘Mighty Stix’ which was a piece entirely of their own composition, ‘The Colours of Christmas’ excellently sung by the Sandon Chamber Choir and Concert Band’s renditions of ‘The Three Minute Nutcracker’ and ‘Sleigh Ride’ to get everyone into the Christmas Spirit!
Mr. Wadwell, Head of Art, was an excellent compere for the concert, even managing to add in some Christmas cracker jokes! The Music Department would like to take this opportunity to thank all students and parents involved in the Christmas concert. Your continued support is invaluable and makes successful events like this possible. We look forward to seeing you at our Summer Variety Concert on Wednesday, 5
July 2017. The Music Department

SHARE YOUR VIEWS OF THE SCHOOL
Dear Parents/Carers
As part of the process of school self-review, OFSTED ask all schools to encourage parents to register their views on their ‘Parent View’ website by completing an online questionnaire. I should therefore be grateful if you would visit the following site to complete the short questionnaire: https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/. There is also a link to the Parent View site under the ‘Parent’ tab of the school’s website.
Responses received via Parent View are used by OFSTED to help determine the judgement and grading during any future inspection at the school.
