Hello everyone!
I hope everyone had a great
Thanksgiving Day. What a great Country we
live in. We have a national holiday to pause to thank GOD for this
Country and His many blessings.
The Club had a great month with our annual Pie Supper and
Auction. I want personally thank everyone for making it a huge
success. This allows the Club to have dinners, furnish refreshments,
buy flowers and enables other Club activities.
The trip to OSU Okmulgee, with the Thanksgiving Dinner at the
Culinary Arts Cafeteria, as well as the walk-through of the automotive
classrooms and garage was awesome. Thanks Linda and Ken!
We are looking forward to the Christmas Party on December
15th
. It will be at Uncle Buck’s Grill, at Bass Pro in Broken Arrow (see
separate article for details).
This is my last President’s Message. I want to thank all of you
for allowing me to serve as your President for the past two years. I wish
the new Board and officers the best and am looking forward to the
future for a great time with the Model A Club. I wish everyone a
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
May the Ford be with you,
Don Reed

1000 Mile Club by Roy Cail
For those participating in the 2012 1000 Mile Club
program, I will be collecting final odometer
readings no later than Wednesday, December 12.
This timeframe provides an opportunity to capture
your mileage from the Christmas parades.
However, if you do not plan on participating in the
parades, feel free to provide your odometer reading
earlier. Our plan is to present the dash plaques at
the January meeting. We have 23 members
registered to participate in this program for 2012.
If you have questions please contact Roy Cail at
918-299-5691 or [email protected] . Please submit
your final odometer readings via email or in writing
if possible.
Nuts & Bolts (or Miscellaneous Tidbits!) by Ken Brust
Our Club kicked off November in fantastic fashion
with breakfast in Coweta, followed by a poker run
around Fort Gibson Lake and the Wagoner area.
We had 10 cars participate in the scenic poker run,
but had even more folks at breakfast who couldn’t
make the drive afterwards. If you missed it, you
missed a good time! Many thanks to Margaret and
Bob Soper for organizing this. We finished the
drive with a nice lunch together, before heading
home. Two cars (Tory & I, along with Jerry Conrad
& Linda Ochs) headed for Claremore where we
were joined by J.D. & Joann Sampley and Bud &
Tonya Biesemeyer, to participate in the Will Rogers
Day Parade. Since Daylight Savings Time had not
changed yet, we all made it home before dark. We
drove 146 miles and had a super Model A day!
The Club participated in the Veterans’ Day Parade,
also in Claremore, where we had 9 cars and 17
folks. It was nice to see Charlie Ramsey back in
action following his back surgery. Sam was home
waiting for the stork to arrive, so Charlie offered
Ralph a ride since both of Ralph’s Model A’s were
too sick to drive. Ralph, sounds like you need a
third Model A as a spare! Tory and I invited a
neighbor to ride with us who was a POW in Korea.
He was thrilled to join us! Tory was in her Model
A era outfit and walked the entire parade route
holding a sign that read: THANKS VETS. It was
great to see the large crowd out on a nice, fall day to
show their gratitude to all veterans. (By the way,
Sam had a little girl! Congratulations to all the
Ramsey family!)
About 25 of us drove to Okmulgee to dine at the
annual feast prepared by the amazing culinary
school. None of us left hungry! Following the
feast, many of us toured the automotive programs.
The innovative programs there offer a win-win
solution to students, manufacturers, sponsors and
school. It was another perfect Model A day with
good friends, food, tour and weather! Some of the
gals started fading during the tour, so maybe next
time we can schedule a tour of the culinary school!!
The annual chili supper and pie auction was a big
success. Everyone enjoyed tasting the various
goodies. Many thanks to Rodger who made it all so
much fun. Greg and Cheryl drove up in their A to
join us for chili and pie. Greg even won a nice
carburetor in a $5 raffle! They stayed overnight and
joined us for the Jenks Christmas Parade the next
morning. We had 11 cars in the parade and, as
always, were a big hit with the crowd. Everyone
had their cars decorated in the holiday spirit. Tom
Payne, a new member, also joined us in his nice
Sport Coupe.

I regret to report that Joann Sampley suffered a
heart attack shortly after the Will Rogers Day
Parade, but J.D. reports that she is now doing pretty
well. Also, Bud Biesemeyer called to report that
someone had broken into his garage and vandalized
his Model A by pouring paint and oil all over it
among other cruel acts. Please keep Joann and Bud
in your thoughts as they strive to recover from these
unfortunate incidents.
Happy Trails to you!

OSU Okmulgee Thanksgiving Buffet results.
The OSU Okmulgee Thanksgiving Buffet is history for this year. The food was excellent, the weather
was beautiful, the Model-A’s were all shinning and at their best, and the drive through the country was
fantastic. There were 23 members and 12 Model-A’s making the trip.
Attending were Benny & Loretta Benson, Ken Brust, Bob & Margret Soper, Rich & Donna
Robinson, Roy & Barbara Cail, Teresa Wilkerson, Jerry & Charlene Sloan, Jerry Conrad, Linda Ochs,
Rick Jensen, Harold & Virginia Helton, Kent & Jeannie Washburn, Don & Jesse Reed, and Marvin &
Linda Mellage.
Chili Supper & Pie Auction success.
Our club’s major fund raiser the Annual Chili Supper & Pie Auction were nothing less than a complete
success. Everyone was very generous with their donations and spending. The clubs finances are in good shape
going into the 2013 season. See another article in the newsletter for the auction results.
Also thanks to Jessie Reed, Virginia Helton, Connie Hudson, and Linda Mellage for preparing all
that fine chili and fixings; to Ollie Harris for providing the drinks; and a special thanks to Roger Johnson for
an outstanding auctioneer job and keeping the action lively.
