To jump start the holiday season, instead of
our regular meeting at noon, we gathered
at the Lions Gate Hotel and Suites for our
annual holiday dinner. Guests began to
gather at 6:00 p.m. for no host cocktails in
the Lobby Bar; and at 6:45 p.m., they
began to migrate toward Club Ballroom A
for the festivities. The room was beautifully
decorated—complete with Christmas tree
and seasonal centerpieces created by Mary
Mecklenburg. Mary added a personal
touch to the centerpieces by baking an
assortment of delicious cookies. The
centerpieces included a holiday motif tin
tray, poinsettia and candle. Four lucky
winners, who included Jennifer Magnani
Sonja Cameron, Sam Morgan and
David Stone, took the centerpieces
home. There was a custom bag of cookies
for each Rotarian, too!
PP Bob Meyer served as the official
greeter. President Rich Ryan welcomed
everyone and officially called the meeting
to order at 6:55 p.m. Sonja Cameron led us
President Rich stated, “this is a holiday party — no need for any announcements.”
At 6:58pm—President Rich changed his
mind after some encouragement. With 31
Rotarians and their guests in attendance, we
proceeded with introductions of Rotarians and
their guests. Attendees included Sonja
Cameron; Honorary Mem ber Karla
Curran, Nicole and Jeff Donlevy; form er
member and honorary Rotarian Annie Hallsten;
John Hallsten; PP Joe Kaiser; Gordon
and Polly Lipp; PE Gene Long and his wife,
Kathy; PP Maureen McBride and hubby,
Chuck; President Rich Ryan and his w ife,
Melinda; IPP Patrick Magnani and his
wife, Jennifer; PP Dominic Mecklenburg
a.k.a. “Elfie” and his wife, Mary; PP Bob
Meyer; PP Marilee Monagan and her
partner and honorary member Brent Seizer;
Cheryl “Sam” Morgan and her partner ,
Dick Biddle; Dick’s sister, Gail Schaffer,

McClellan Holiday Food Baskets -
Community Service Director Jeff Donlevy
announced the McClellan Park Group needs
volunteers on Friday, December 12th from
4:30 until 6pm(ish) to unload and
prep the materials for the assembly of their
holiday baskets on Saturday. It’s more heavy
lifting than wrapping presents. It would be
unloading pallets and staging material on the
tables. With everyone pitching in, it will take
about an hour and a half.
Jeff volunteered four (4) Rotarians and they can fit in more if we have more who want to help. Please let Jeff know a.s.a.p. if you can help on December 12th.
Optimist Food Baskets
The Optimist are very excited to receive our
donation of $250 for their Holiday Gift
Basket program.
They need help putting together the baskets
on December 17th from 5pm – 7pm at the
Zion Lutheran Church (3644 Bolivar Ave,
NH – off I St and Watt between Elkhorn
and Don Julio)
Please let Jeff Donlevy know if you can help
out. This is a great hands-on and joint
project between Rotary and the Optimist
Club. We are all here to support our
community.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS
WEEK’S PROGRAM
PP Dominic Mecklenburg took center stage
and did a fabulous job reminding everyone
to think of others during the holiday season
and thanked our servers, Tracy & Cecilia,
who do a great job taking care of us during
the year. He followed up with a card and a
gift card for each of them.
Our holiday Elf Mecklenburg came dressed
in his elf attire and kicked off our gift
exchange with drawing numbers. Bobby
Meyer w as first! Included in the gift
exchange was a “Gag Gift” produced by our
Elf w ith President Rich in m ind. At
the insistence of Elfie, the gift was chosen
by President Rich. It was a fram ed
certificate for a 3-day/2-night stay at the
Children’s Receiving Home! Everyone had a
good laugh and President Rich was allowed
to choose another gift. Many gifts were
stolen, stolen again and then retired. A good
time was had by all! Back again for the
second time in the white elephant gift
exchange were those infamous
gnomes. Once again, President Rich
selected them, hoping this time they would
make it to the Ryan’s residence. Alas, that
was not to be the case. In a highly
entertaining steal, the gnomes went home
with President Elect Gene Long.
All gifts having been selected and the fun
over, President Rich Ryan asked everyone to
join him in our traditional toast “Rotary
Around The World” and adjourned the
meeting.
