Principal’s Report Dear Parent/Caregiver Graduation Assembly Today was an exciting, yet sad day as we celebrated the achievements of our Year 6 and Year 10 students at their graduation assembly. To the few Years 6 students leaving The Rock Central to explore the education provided at other schools, I wish you all the best and hope that you will fulfil your dreams and become the people you want to be. To our Year 10 students, all of you have journeys that are going to be very different to one another. Some will be going into Year 11 at schools that meet their educational needs, some will be going to TAFE and others are off to work. Wherever your destination lies, you will always remember where it started, and that was here. School Sport—Swimming This is a reminder that this Thursday and next Thursday we will be having swimming for sport. All students are expected to participate and any students who feel the need to opt out will be supervised at school doing theory on water safety. With the holidays so close, we do not want any students to have an unhappy experience around water or while swimming. Please support this initiative with your children. Year 10 Formal We are all looking forward to the Year 10 Formal Dinner next Monday evening, 2nd December, at The Rock Hall. I know we always look forward to the wonderful dresses and the ’dapper’ suits, the great food and best of all the company of so many friends and family all celebrating the achievements of our Year 10 students. The photo session commences at 6.00pm on Monday evening if you would like to come down and support the wonderful young people of The Rock. • We recently held a softball game between the K-10 students and staff. It was a great

afternoon of fun, with the victors being the students by a ‘number of runs’. The challenge has been

thrown down by the staff for another game soon to see if they can redeem themselves and even the

score. We are all looking forward to that.

27th November 2013 Dear Parents Here we are in the last few weeks of our child/ren’s school year at The Rock Central School and what a year our children have experienced!! A lot of the experiences the children have been able to participate in have been kindly sponsored and supported by the P & C.

The yummy sausage sizzle that was conducted in lieu of an operating canteen was organised and run by the P & C.

‘Hot Shots’ program, where children were exposed to tennis was a huge

success and again funded by the P & C. Swimming lessons at the end of Term 3 was partially funded by the P & C, with

transportation costs being fully funded to ensure your cost as parents was so low.

Involved in the planning and organising of, and providing all catering at The

Rock Central School Fete. These are just a few examples of how your P & C is active within the school, however, there have been many more activities within the school where the P & C have played an important role. We are asking of you now to help us as we move forward, by participating in the P & C. Involvement offers you the opportunity to help direct the school into the future, continuing to provide such an excellent environment until your child / ren leave us in Year 10. Please consider attending our meetings, which are held Wednesday evenings of Weeks 3 and 7 of each term. It would be great to see you at one of these meetings, so you can be involved in our planning for the future of The Rock Central School. Regards Deb Emmett Vice President, P & C
