Greetings from the Desk of Ron

Meyer, Rector's Warden.

Christmas is a time for

families and friends when we all,

or most of us, come together in a

spirit of goodwill. We exchange

cards and gifts and have a break

from the normal routine of every-

day life.

The year 2016 has brought

with it many changes for our

church. As I accepted the honor

of becoming your Rector's War-

den, the year has brought many

challenges for me as well.

As I reflect on this past year, I

am amazed at the dedication of

those who have worked long and

hard to reach our goals, meet our

needs, and to minister to others.

The love that you have shared

with me, and with one another

reminds me of the real meaning

of Christmas. That is, that through

the birth of Jesus Christ in a

scruffy Bethlehem stable to a

young, probably ‘teenage’ Jewish

girl, LOVE came into our world.

Mary had bent her will to that of

God to bring forth our Savior.

Christmas is not about sug-

ary sentiment, although sentiment

and love are a real part of the

story. Christmas is above all about

the relationship between God and

humanity. At Christmas we joy-

ously recall that God laid aside his

pure Divinity, his tremendous and

awesome powers and came to

earth in the body of Jesus. He put

on our flesh and experienced life

as a man.

Why? So that he could ex-

perience everything that we ex-

perience and at the last die a pain-

ful agonizing death on a piece of

wood. God loves us so much that

Luke 2, 11-14

11For unto you is born this

day in the city of David a Saviour,

which is Christ the Lord. 12And

this shall be a sign unto you; Ye

shall find the babe wrapped in

swaddling clothes, lying in a man-

ger. 13And suddenly there was

with the angel a multitude of the

heavenly host praising God, and

saying, 14Glory to God in the

highest, and on earth peace, good

will toward men.

Throughout this Blessed

season, may each of you experi-

ence and share the most precious

gift of all, the gifts of love and

forgiveness.

on the Cross he submits his Son to

the very worst that human beings

can do to each other and calls

from that Cross – “FORGIVE.”

Forgiveness is the ultimate gift

of love. The Redemption of the

Cross is for all of us. For in Jesus

Christ there are no barriers; none

of race, age, color, class, creed,

sexual orientation or anything

else; we are all precious children

of God.

So, the gifts of Christmas are

Love and Forgiveness . These

gifts from God for each and every

one of us are so powerful that our

words cannot do them justice.

During this blessed season we

are reminded of God's ultimate

gift to our world, the birth of Jesus

Christ. As Christians we are all

'called' to share this love and for-

giveness, both with one another,

and to those who are searching for

peace.

A Death in

the Family

It is with deepest

regret that we an-

nounce the death of

long-time stalwart

Tim White on

December 3rd, 2016.

Tim was the guid-

ing force behind St.

George’s Food Pantry

for many years, and

his absence will be

deeply felt.

Two of the volun-

teers have announced

that they will try to

keep the Food Pantry

going. There is a tre-

mendous need for this

sort of help and it

would be tragic for the

population in our area

to stop operations.

Please continue to

support this outreach

mission. We will con-

tinue to collect food

donations and to have

a special offering on

the second Sunday of

each month.

May the souls of all

the faithful departed

rest in you, O Lord.

The Annual Cookie Exchange took

place in Leighton Hall on December

10.

Alta, Kathleen, and Betty look over

the cookies on offer. Helen seems to

be overwhelmed by the entire thing.

Beverly was also in attendance, but

she is behind the camera.

Rector’s Warden, con’t.

It’s been a long time since the last newsletter, so we have a lot of ground to cover.

NEW BABIES

Hamilton Foster joined the Long fam-ily on Septem-ber 15, 2016.

Tim and Jenifer Meyer added a son to their household July 16, 2015. Donovan joins three big sis-ters. Not to be out-done ye editor and The Squire added two great-grandsons to the fold. Wyatt Healey came along on June 18th, 2016 and Austin Valenti showed up on October 9th.

WEDDINGS

Cherish Deaver and Jamie Smith were married on September 2nd at St. Joseph's Church in Cockeysville. The couple has purchased a home in White Marsh.

Rachel Gagliano and Joseph Heise were married at Resurrection on September 3, 2016 by Fr. D’Amario. The bride was beauti-ful, the groom was radiant, and they lived happily ever after.

FUNERALS

And, unfortunately, we also had several funerals during the last year and a half. Both Herb and Barbara Baker left us. Barbara died on December 31, 2014 and Herb joined her on August 14, 2015. Janis and Cliff Johnson’s son, Tony was buried from Resurrection on October 22, 2016.

OTHER GOOD STUFF

Brian Deaver, jr. graduated from Syracuse University College of Law in May of 2016, and was

presented with his diploma by Vice Presi-

dent Joe Biden. He is currently practicing Elder Law and Estate Planning.

Money

Matters

Those are bills

washing over us!

This has been a

challenging year for

Resurrection. We

are small and trying

to boost attendance

and pledges. Our

events have been

well attended and

have provided us

with much needed

income to help meet

expenses.

Our Redner’s

receipt program has

also been a big help

to our church. Even

the groups that meet

at the church have

saved the receipts

for us. Special

thanks to the Joppa-

towne Golden

Agers who have

gotten many re-

ceipts for us and

have held food

drives for our ou-

reach programs. We

are looking forward

to the coming year

and the continued

success of Church

of the Resurrection.

What’s Up With Us

corrected at the expense of One Hour Heating/Air

Conditioning.

New Business:

Pam Young volunteered to fill the vacant posi-

tion of People’s Warden. Ron Meyer appointed

Pam as the People’s Warden.

Ms. Steward, at the Diocese, was contacted

(due to the unavailability of Stuart Wright), to re-

quest a Financial Audit. She recommended for an

auditor who would do the audit at a reduced rate.

Ron Meyer telephoned the auditor and is awaiting

a return call.

Concerning the motion to take $14,200.00, a

portion of the gift from the sale of the William’s

condo and use for building maintenance. The

money will not be moved within the records at

this time until the audit is completed.

Quick Books for Churches has been donated to

the church by Joann and Mark Geier. The conver-

sion to the new system is expected to take place

January 1, 2017.

Ron Meyer reviewed the Parochial Reports for

2014 and 2015 and found that the difference in the

income is the second payment received by the

church from the sale of the Williams condo.

The report will be corrected and sent to Ms. Stew-

ard at the Diocese. They will correct our assess-

ment.

A flat screen TV has been donated to the

church for a TV raffle. Galib Kawaja has the raf-

fle tickets. Please sell tickets.

Stuart Wright has created a “Draft” of the pro-

posed contract for Rev. Kim Baker. Rev. Baker is

in the process of finalizing her retirement paper-

work with the Diocese. Rev. Baker is going to

have a meeting with Father Wright to discuss our

situation and the possibility of becoming our long

term supply priest if that is all we can afford.

Next Vestry meeting 11/15/16. The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m. with a prayer. Respectively submitted,

Linda Bullock

Registrar

one from One Hour Heating/Air Conditioning is

going to do a heat study on 10/13/16. Supplemen-

tal heating, heat pumps, is needed. This will be
