Title: view of loneliness Based on the works of LS Lowry Theme: families isolated at home, looking out through their windows, watching a solitary man walk by. Are they wishing they could join him or is he wishing he could join them?

The following picture is a parody of The Scream painting. I have chosen to represent Clap for Carers for the art competition. Instead of the figure in the painting screaming, he is clapping and cheering. I changed the surroundings of the painting to an urban area but I kept the background the same.

I have chosen and adapted this photo because it shows the irony of stockpiling in Covid-19. The original famous painting was Campbell's soup cans by Andy Warhol.

Ollie R Maxwell M

I chose to feature Donald trump because I have been equally appalled and fascinated by his interviews on covid 19. I felt the image of The Scream was very appropriate to feature Donald trump.

Warhol created Marilyn to show how we go crazy for fame, how it’s superficial and how quickly it fades. A bit like our crazy obsession with toilet paper at the beginning of Covid 19 lockdown This is simply called ‘Toilet Paper’

I made a photo of the mona lisa with the face of Florence Nightingale. Florence Nightingale was a nurse who taught hygiene to everyone during the Crimean war. She taught her fellow nurses and soldiers to wash their hands frequently, to wear face masks and to wear gloves. As we are in a similar situation now where personal hygiene is extremely important, I believe we all should follow Florence Nightingale's advice. Furthermore, the government built a temporary hospital on her name to show how important she was during the Crimean war and how important her advice is to us now. Florence Nightingale was one of the 38 nurses who volunteered to care for the injured British warriors. The Mona Lisa is an oil painting by Italian artist, inventor and writer Leonardo Da Vinci. One most legendary reasons for the Mona Lisa's fame is her eyes and lips. Leonardo Da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa in such a way that the eyes of the Mona Lisa fall into the centre of vision of the user. Meaning that which ever angle you look at the Mona Lisa from her eyes are looking at you. While, the lips fall into the peripheral vision. To conclude, I believe that how the Mona Lisa is looking in every angle that we should all stay alert and be aware during this crisis. We should also all be grateful to all the healthcare staff working day and night for our safety.

The effects of Covid-19. A parody of the famous art piece "The birth of Adam” My "art" calibrated many aspects of quarantine life: 1). The thunderstorm: Covid-19 came to earth like a thunderstorm, it made people separated from each other as everyone locked themselves inside their own houses. 2). The black clouds: The black clouds represent the effects to the environment that humans have pushed on it, I believe more of these types of pandemics are on the way as a result of all of humans terrible behavior towards the earth. 2). The lightning: In the original picture, God and Adam were touching hands but in my adaptation the lightning prevented them from doing so as this symbolizes social-distancing. 3). The darker colored background: It symbolizes how nowadays humans are pushed further away from their good beliefs. 4). The NHS and other key workers: I put the NHS badge on God as they are like Gods to us in this period of time and blue masks on the different angels to represent many of the other key workers. 5). Adam: Adam symbolizes the average person, who is helpless in this situation.

This to me represents lockdown life by showing how much people are on devices and internet. The real apple from the original image has been replaced by the device company apples logo.

The image shows what life in lock down is like at the moment. The toilet rolls in the background represents the fact that people are struggling to get hold of toilet roll at this time as many are stockpiling (however I'm still clueless as to why). I also added a layer with a mask, added shadows and blended it with the hair to make it look fairly realistic as if Mona Lisa is quarantined. The hardest part was erasing the right hand and adding a different one - facing upwards so it could hold the mini tv, which I edited with Boris giving one of his nonsensical announcements.

It represents loneliness at the dining table because in school, I would sit and eat with my friends at one table but currently whilst stuck at home I am eating with teddies.

My entry represents the communal aspect of how we as a country have acted during this pandemic. Video-calling has been vital feature to bring us together during this tough time. I thought it would be great to incorporate Andy Warhol’s famous repeated painting of Marilyn Monroe in different colours within the contemporary format of a Teams meeting

What this picture shows is the lockdown itself and how it has affected our lives. The absence of people except for the police officer shows how we should all Stay Home, Protect the NHS, and Save Lives. The coronavirus balls represent how deadly and how quickly the virus is spreading throughout the world and how unpredictable the future is.

The Last Social Distancing Supper This represents lockdown life for me because ever since lockdown began we haven't been able to meet up with friends and family and I think this parody shows the struggles of having to distance yourself from others and have your supper alone (especially when you had plans for a huge dinner with all your disciples).

At the top there is the coronavirus everywhere outside, all around the main piece (mona Lisa Shrek herself) is fire because the world is burning, Shrek is Mona Lisa because of memes and is shouting because he’s fed up of coronavirus but he still wears the mask. YouTube is there to signify that it still has a large presence during this outbreak and because I still watch it, Shrek Lisa is wearing a BLM necklace due to the events of George Floyd and the protests/riots. Anime at the bottom as it is something I watch during lockdown and Solaire (from Dark Souls) is praising the sun, a reference to the game he is from and since I am playing games increasingly often now it seemed fitting

Title: Quarantine Life Description: I tried to create a simple yet meaningful piece of art using Sue Brown's famous art work. As you can see, on the let there is a little boy in hospital that has COVID-19. I tried to pay attention to detail and if you look close you can see the boy has long hair which represents barber shops shutting down. Moving on to the middle picture, you can see a typical bedroom. I wanted to show how the life of an average student changed. I f you look closely you can see that the boy is having an online lesson. Last but not least on the right there is a drawing which represents how the general public showed their gratitude towards the NHS, which became a situation where people bonded no matter their colour or ethnicity.

Title: 32 Toilet Paper Rolls Description: Based off Warhol's 32 Campbell's Soup Cans, this piece represents the panic-consumer culture originating from the current pandemic. Just as Warhol's piece elevated soup to pop culture, society has done the same for toilet paper, creating countless memes, jokes and news articles regarding the subject. My piece aims to capture this crazed obsession. Media/Software used: pen/paper, GIMP 2.10.12, Blender 2.80.

The idea is that Sage is now the main information stream for the government. They provide the scientific research which the government appears to accept without question. Parallels can be drawn between this and Jesus and his disciples, as just as Boris's cabinet have complete faith in sage, the disciples had complete faith in Jesus. Priti Patel also takes the place of Judas to send a political message.

I’ve been volunteering about twice a week at Altrincham Open studio, helping them produce face visors, for which I had to wear a mask and gloves, and I've used a small interaction between me and my younger sister as inspiration. I've drawn 2 characters from a Japanese anime called Konosuba. The first is the younger sister (my sister) prompting her elder sibling to put on their mask, like how my sister told me to put on my mask just after eating breakfast.

LS. Lowry’s famous image of Manchester’s Picadilly Gardens. It’s one of my favourite images as it portrays Manchester as what it normally, is - a beautiful and bustling city. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic this fantastic city has been rendered a ghost-town, and I have attempted to reflect this by individually editing out each person and blending the edit into the original painting using my iPad Pro and stylus. We we are left with is a near empty and desolate park as could be seen across the nation.

The piece I have ‘parodied’ is The School of Athens (Fresco by Raphael). The piece is known for being chaotic and full of life, this is something that I wanted to interpret in a different way. The medium I choose to work with was photoshop as this is something I have minimally explored in the past and so want to further improve, and also removed any restriction of art supplies available from home. As you can see in my final piece I removed the crowds of people and replaced them with NHS staff and workers, who have been at the forefront of this pandemic. I did not want to lose sight of the original busyness to this piece, but at the same time I wanted to demonstrate the absence of people out and about due to lockdown. Combining both these ideas resulted in a thinned crowd of workers, centred around a stretcher being rushed through. This individual is centre to the piece as it is representative of the constant fixation now in day to day life of ‘death toll’ counting, and the haste at which it has increased exponentially during the pandemic.

The idea behind this painting is an abstract sunset behind The Great Wave. I did a red and yellow border to compliment the sunset background; this was applied using a pallet knife to create a thick, textured layer of paint which I have been experimenting with during lockdown. The border was also to represent the Governments lockdown briefing colours at the beginning to alert the population of their guidelines. I chose to use The Great Wave because I have previously drawn it; this time I have used scissors to cut out the wave and glued the image onto the sunset background. To make the picture look finished I have used varnish over the entire canvas.

I have one person holding a scalf that says "A City United" because I wanted to have both big football teams in the painting. I used thick card, I started with pencil drawing and then used watercolours after."

The Great Wave of Coronavirus Inspired by The Great Wave off Kanagawa, by Katsushika Hokusai The Coronavirus lockdown had a dramatic impact on Altrincham Interchange. Before the pandemic, it was a thriving transport hub, full of people travelling to work, school and social events. After the start of lockdown, on 23rd March 2020, it was usually completely empty, as everyone stayed at home.On Sunday 17th May, when this photo was taken, the Interchange was eerily silent and still. Although it was sad to see the station totally deserted, when it would normally be busy with people heading into Manchester for an evening out, the peace and quiet induced a feeling of calm and provided an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the place. Despite walking through there every day, I’d never noticed it’s architectural shapes and colours or the dazzling lights of its buildings. The bicycle shelter stood out strikingly against the evening sky, its illuminated curved roof reminding me of The Great Wave of Kanagawa: just as the colossal wave is dwarfing Mount Fuji, almost threatening to consume it, the bike shelter dominates the photo, with the gable end of the platform canopy mirroring the position of the mountain in the famous artwork. That evening, it felt as if all the passengers had been frightened away from the Interchange by The Great Wave of Coronavirus.
