State Senator Cheryl Kagan and

Delegate Kumar Barve discussed

their opposition to widening the

footprint of I-270 in the Rockville

area during the District 17 send-off

event on Sunday, January 6 to

discuss legislative priorities.

DECEMBER 19

The Maryland Board of Public

Works awarded a $90 million

2

contract to Maryland Traffic Relief

Partners to provide comprehensive

engineering and support services for

the Project.

DECEMBER 17

Delegate Al Carr (District 18)

presented his bill MC 8-19, which

would require authorization from

Montgomery County before any

state agency could acquire or

construct any toll road, highway or

bridge in Montgomery County. The

3

House Environment and

Transportation subcommittee will

discuss the bill January 15.

YOU CAN HELP!

• Educate your neighbors

about what’s going on.

Lorem Ipsum NO VISITOR PARKING IN OUR PARKING LOTS

It’s that wonderful time of year that brings crowds of friends and family to your home. Playoff football parties, followed the sports party to end all parties – the Super Bowl in February.

All these folks have to park somewhere – but we have to remind you that they can’t park in the parking lots. We simply don’t have enough space for residents and visitors. There is plenty of street parking on Azalea, so please be considerate and direct your guests to park on the street. This protects spaces for you and your neighbors. Thank you!

Please be a responsible pet owner. Pick up the poo and deposit it in your trash. Do not leave the bag on the ground or put it into lawn bags by the curb. Your neighbors thank you!

Once upon a time, we’re told,

Regents Square had an annual

community picnic to celebrate our

awesome community, build

bridges among neighbors and just

have a good ol’ time. Some of us

have lived here for a least a decade

and have never experienced such

an event.

Enter newish board member Deb

Bienstock, who surprised and

thrilled the Regents Square Board

of Directors when she announced

2

at the January meeting that she

would like to form a committee of

co-owners to organize this event.

Our reaction: Yay!

This community fun day would

likely be held in Spring or Summer

2019.

We need your help and ideas

to make this happen! Please

join Deb on this new

committee. Email her at

[email protected] to help.

Let’s have a community picnic! Join our committee

MONTHLY BOARD MEETING SCHEDULE

The Board of Directors usually meets the first Monday of every month at

7:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Rockville Senior Center, 1150

Carnation Drive. Co-owners are of course welcome. Meeting minutes are

posted in Building Engines.

GOOD LANDSCAPING

NEWS! FSC IS BACK!

Facility Service Company (FSC) was our

landscape maintenance contractor for over

30 years. Last year we put the contract out

for bid to check the market. We reviewed

four bids and hired Green Earth for 2018.

We heard your complaints loudly and

clearly. The change didn’t work out, so

we’re returning to FSC. They are happy

and we hope you will be too. Just

remember – nobody is perfect. They

know our 21.7-acre property well, and

they do their best to respond to problems

if they occur. They will do a preliminary

garden cleanup soon and will edge and

mulch the beds next month or early

March, weather permitting.

New in our contract is the discontinuation

of the weed killer Roundup on our

property. Final-San-O will be used instead

if needed. It is a broadleaf and grass

herbicide government approved for use in

organic gardening and we hope it is a safer

alternative.

NEW FURRY FAMILY MEMBERS IN YOUR HOME?

Submit a ticket in Building Engines and the management

company will have a pest control service come to your home.

ISN’T THIS AN UGLY SIGHT?

This is called “bulk trash” and cannot be

placed at the curb or in the parking lots.

Please take your bulk trash to the nearby

county transfer station on Rockville Pike

not far from Shady Grove Road.
