    THE REAL REASON BEHIND

    OBAMAS TRIP TO INDIA

The primary purpose is to take a bunch of US companies and open up markets so that we can

sell in Asia, in some of the fastest-growing markets in the world, President Obama.

While President Obama says thatthe facts dont support the contention. If trade was importantwhy wouldnt Obama take a trip to China to drum up business? Let us look at the numbers

    recently published by VOA.

Two-way India-U.S. trade is now at $50 billion a year. President Obama spoke before leavingWashington about the key aim of his visit to India. Im going to be talking about opening upadditional markets in places like India so that American businesses can sell more productsabroad, in order to create more jobs here at home, he said.

Ron Somers, who heads the U.S. India Business Council and is here in Mumbai, says U.S. India trade is still only one tenth of U.S. trade with China. U.S. China trade is $500 billion, sowe still have a long way to go. VOA

Most of the $50 Billion in trade with Bharat is actually US exports to Delhi.

Other factors which dont support President Obamas contention. Saudi Arabis just signed a dealworth $50 billion with America. The UAE is purchasing $160 billion worth of arms from theUSA. This is addition to the amount of trade that transpires between the GCC and America.

So what is the real reason for Mr. Obamas trip? Obviously the trip will continue to create Anti-Americanism in Pakistan and the visit will conjure up chagrin in China.

The BBC reports that former President Musharraf didnt like President Obama skippingPakistan.

y Barack Obama India trip: Pervez Musharraf disappointed Barack Obama not in Pakistany Pakistans former president Pervez Musharraf on Friday voiced disappointment that US

President Barack Obama was not stopping in his country on the sidelines of his maidenvisit to India.

I would take it as a disappointment, yes, indeed, Mr Musharraf, a military leader who steppeddown in 2008, told MSNBC television.

Mr Musharraf also criticised Mr Obama for not speaking about Kashmir, the Himalayan regiondisputed between Pakistan and India, saying: It doesnt resonate well with the people ofPakistan.

They take it that the United States or the president of the United States is not that concerned

about Pakistans own sensitivities and interests, he said.

Mr Obama was en route on Friday for Mumbai and New Delhi on a trip aimed at convincingIndia that he wants to push ahead relations between the worlds two largest democracies after anearly focus on Pakistan and China.

For many US policy-makers, it would be unthinkable for Mr Obama to visit Pakistan on thesidelines of the long-promoted trip as Mr Obama is hoping to show India that he sees it as aglobal power and not simply as a regional player.

But Mr Obama has a delicate balancing act as he has also tried to convince Pakistan that he sees

the country as more than simply a conduit into Afghanistan for war operations.

Ahead of the India trip, Mr Obama invited Mr Musharrafs civilian successor, President Asif AliZardari, for a future visit to Washington and announced that he would travel to Pakistan nextyear. Guardian.

The American president is the most protected man on the planet, even when he is gallivantinghalfway across the globe. Everywhere the U.S. president a whole paraphernalia of aircraft, security personnel and high-tech equipment go with him. Both Mumbai and Delhi wherePresident Obama will be dividing his time in India have been converted into virtual fortresses, read the news anchor. Indian Headline TV news channel.

This news was in response to criticism that President Obama was spending $200 million per dayon his trip to Bharat. That number was denied but it remains very high.

What are the hundreds of CEOs doing in Bharat? If there was reality in business, it wouldnt takea presidential trip to start a profitable venture. CEOs dont need sponsored trips to beginbusiness.

It is ironic that Pakistan doesnt want aid and wants trade. Bharat gets trade and Afghanistan getsaid.

It its not trade and opportunities for US business, then what is Obamas yatra accomplishing?Pushing Bharat to resolve Kashmir will surely help Obamas presidency, and will enhance hischances of winning the next presidential elections.

Another reason for the visit would be try to ask Bharat to forget about Afghanistan and and lookEastwards towards Southeast Asia. The US could sweeten the deal for Bharat if it builds up its

navy and looks East, instead of looking West towards Afghanistan.

Reading between the lines, perhaps the best reason is to persuade Bharat to stop destabilizingPakistan so that Islamabad can help the US with a face saving exit from Afghanistan.

So the talk about trade and silence about Kashmir, doesnt really cut it. Obamas real mission tothe poverty stricken, penury infested country is to resolve Kashmir and stop Bharati terroragainst Pakistan.
