The story of Santa Claus is based on a true story

Santa Claus was really a Siberian eskimo shaman

Life was hard for a Siberian eskimo shaman They had to do many different things to survive

Siberia is a cold place with extreme winters Times were harsh in Siberia and the people turned to the shaman for guidan

The native Siberians did not use money instead they exchanged services

The most highly respected tradesman in the community was the shaman The shaman played the role of priest, doctor, drug dealer, warchief and

guidance counsellor

To become the shaman of the village Santa had to receive visions from

the spirits by entering an altered state using whatever means availablesuch as sleep deprivation, headbutting trees and psychedelic mushrooms

Food was scarce in Siberia in winter and little grew apart from ever green trees

Once a year around Christmas time mushrooms called Fly agaric appeared

These mushrooms are red and white and resemble Santa Claus

The mushrooms grew rapidly and appeared overnight under the evergreens The natives discovered that these mushrooms caused hallucinations and visions The people especially the shaman considered these mushrooms to be holy and

gifts from God

This is where the tradition of putting presents under the christmas tree originated

relationship with the roots of trees

Amanita mushrooms can only grow near pine trees because the roots provide the

nutrients they need

This is why people put pine trees in their house at Christmas and put the presentsunderneath them

Reindeers are native to Siberia and in winter since food is scarce their diet

consists mainly of Amanita muscaria mushrooms After eating these mushrooms reindeers exhibit strange behaviour such as

jumping around and headbutting trees

The shaman had lots of responsibilities and as the priest it was his job to give

spiritual guidance to the villagers Once a year around christmas the shaman had a special mission which was to

deliver mushrooms to everyone in the village

The shaman was a fat man because people were always giving him food in

exchange for his services Since he was fat he needed some form of transport so he build himself a sled

and get the reindeers to drag him around

Santa fed the reindeers mushrooms from his bag to keep their stamina up On his journeys Santa discovered that drinking the reindeers urine would

cause him to have hallucinations and visions

On his travels while under the influence of the mushrooms Santa would think he

is flying with his reindeers and this is were the story of the jolly fat man delivering

presents with his magic sled comes from Santa would often be seen tearing it through the forest on his sled laughing like

a madman and this is why Santa is said to say Ho ho ho

reduce their weight Santa hung the mushrooms on evergreen trees to dry and this is where the

tradition of christmas decorations comes from
