The professional training program at Dansehallerne Week 11 Artist: Marie Kaae Schmidt Title: House dance Class description House dance is a rhythmic dance and is related to hip hop. House, however, is a "club-dance" and not a "street-dance". It is extremely technical when it comes to the steps, but it is also flow-based and seeks freedom within the framework of the beat (Freestyle). Originally, the genre is African American and developed on the basis of social dances such as disco, hip hop, hustle and it incorporates techniques from many different styles including but not limited to tap-dance, hip hop, salsa, capoeira, and African dance. This week's program is structured in a way where we, day by day, work towards the ability to work with the genre in its natural form, Freestyle. It is recommended as a minimum to participate on Monday as well as Tuesday or Wednesday if you want to participate in Freestyle on Friday. Bring trainers, preferably running shoes (do not skate shoes) Monday: Jacking, Rebound & Flow (movement, musicality, and basic principles) Tuesday: Foundations 1 (house dance steps) Wednesday: Foundations 2 (house dance steps) Thursday: Floorwork & Level changes Friday: Guided Freestyle & Methodical Training (rhythmic improvisation)
