My! How the time has flown! So many wonderful things have taken place this year: the Associational Senior Adult Valentine gathering here, Valentine Fellow- ship sponsored by our men, Easter Week Worship times, Our Youth going to The Wilds Summer Camp, Vacation Bible School, Reviv- al, Homecoming, Fall Associational Meeting, and the Community Thanksgiving Worship here and soon there will be much activity around Christmas. We celebrate six additions to the church family so far in 2012, three by Baptism and three by Letter. Praise the Lord! As a church family, we are bound by our kinship in Christ through salvation and spiritual adoption and we celebrate the Savior’s virgin birth this season. As we have heard and certainly used the saying “Jesus Is the Reason for the Season!”, may it never become cliché, for without Jesus, there is no Christmas. Yes, other people try to claim a kinship celebration time during the Christmas season. Some claim Hanukkah, while others observe a newer emphasis called Kwanza, and an ever wider following recognize a little fat man in a red and white suit. Let’s remember that if we say there is only one reason for the season, let’s mean it and not mix the time with things which have nothing to do with Christ, and which are not Eternal, but are actually opposed to Him. A sad case in point could be seen in a ceramic piece I saw in a store which brought tears to my eyes. It was a beautiful manger scene, but Jesus was not in the manger. Rather, He was being held by a fat man in a red and white suit. Yes, I know what the sculptor meant. Still, there can be only one Reason for Christmas, and the New Year, and for Love, and for all Eternity – Jesus!! Have a Christ-Centered Christmas and May We Bless Him all Year Long!
