Time has come for the government to evaluate and grade the importers and exporters on the basis of their operational policies and engaging of trusted, experienced and reputed vendors. b. India Calling Conference to China (Shanghai andGuangzhou)

c. Finance and Banking Conferenced. Setting up of an IMC Students’ Forum – Forum is

Entertainment to showcase developments in thisarea including convergence of technologies.

h. “Impact” – an event by IMC Ladies’ Wing for WomenEmpowerment

i. An Exhibition by the Ladies’ Wingj. Training programme on ipad, Cloud Computing,

Blackberry etc.2. How do you compare the performance of Indian

Exporters and Importers in the current globaleconomic context? What do you think isresponsible for them not realizing their fullpotential?Ans:The performance of Indian exporters and importersis not up to the mark in the current global economiccontext. The dismal state of the global economy islargely to blame for it. Continuing sluggishness in

the developed worldsuggests that we need toshift our focus moretowards domestic demandand expanding trade withthe emerging economies, particularly those in theBRICS bloc.

3. How do you review thetrade policy and assistance of the Union andState government? Has policy paralysis affectedlong term Indian economic growth?Ans:The trade policy and assistance of the Union andState Government is, by and large, on the righttrack, though a lot more needs to be done. Fightinginflation and treading the path of fiscalconsolidation has to be the Government’s topmostpriority. The looming challenge is to enable thekey drivers of growth – infrastructure, manufacturing, transportation, housing andagriculture – progress sustainably. In all theseareas, improvement is definitely being made, though not always as rapidly as we would like itto be. Thus, policy paralysis will not impact India’slong term economic growth.

4. AILBIEA had the honour of recognizing thecontribution of IMC at the recently concludedStellar Award Ceremony. What is your feedbackabout your interaction with trade associationslike AILBIEA?Ans:We value our relationship with you and will doeverything possible to ensure that it goes fromstrength to strength.
