The InstitutionPSGR Krishnammal College for Women

thwas started on 28 June, 1963 by

Shri. G.R. Govindarajulu and

Smt. Chandrakanthi Govindarajulu. It was

inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of

Tamil Nadu, Shri. Bhakthavatchalam.

The college caters to the needs of women in

higher education. Having started modestly with

35 students and 10 faculty members, it has now

established itself as a pioneer institution offering

traditional and modern courses with state-of-the-art

technology, all the way from UG to Research level.

The UGC conferred Autonomous Status to the

institution in the year 2004 and the college is

Reaccredited with 'A' Grade (CGPA - 3.58) by

NAAC (National Accreditation and Assessment rdCouncil) in 2014 (3 cycle). The institution is

ISO 9001:2008 Certified and recognized by DST-

FIST under the ‘College as a whole’ scheme. The

Botany department is a ‘DST-FIST’ sponsored

department under the Level 1 scheme.

World (A-VIEW) is a framework that

provides a rich interactive social

for sharing the values, resources and

knowledge of excellent teachers from

all over the world to students through

the EDUSAT network. The A-VIEW

A Nodal Centre for a Virtual Lab is to be

National Mission for Education through

Amrita Vishwa Vidhyapeetam, Kollam.

Geriatric Care Certificate & Short Term CoursesOur institution is recognized as a “Regional Centre” in

Geriatric Care by the National Institute of Social Defence,

an autonomous body of ministry of Social Justice and

Empowerment. Various programmes related to the care

of the elderly are carried out including a six month

Certificate Course in Geriatric Care. Placement is

provided to those students in old age homes, home care

units, hospitals, etc. This centre works for socially and

educationally related assignments sponsored by the

Central Government and schemes on “inclusiveness

with equal access to all”.

SC/ST, OBC ScholarshipThe eligible SC/ST, OBC, PwD students should submit their scholarship form for the academic year by February for processing scholarship to SC/ST, OBC, PwD each year.

Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006“Child marriage has serious consequences for national development, stunting education and vocational opportunities for a large sector of the population. Furthermore, marriage at a very young age has grave health consequences for both the young women and their children.”

As per the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006, the penalty for facilitating child marriage is rigorous punishment for up to 2 years and/or a fine of 1 lakh rupees.

Ragging Curb Committee

The committee members mentioned above are also on the board of the Sexual Harassment Grievance Cell.

The objective of NPTEL makes e-learning material available on the web, for the video lectures to supplement class room teaching. A large number of students who are unable to attend scholarly institutions will have access to quality content through NPTEL.
