With the potential for transmission of infectious organisms on the rise, closely following standards becomes paramount. ANSI/AAMI standards indicate a need for more than a visual inspection after manual cleaning.

PRESENCE OF PROTEIN Proteins can remain on devices after improper manual cleaning.

Since protein is present in all procedural soils, and a component of most other soils (carbohydrates, lipids, etc), it is the most appropriate marker in cleaning verification. RESI-TEST Cleaning Indicators test down to 1µg of protein, lower than the industry guideline of 6.4 μg*/cm2.
