ZirPro Chemical Zirconia GradesZirPro Thermal Zirconia Grades

Thermal zirconia grades are manufactured using ZirPro proprietary processes which combine zircon sand fusion and chemical treatments.

ZirPro offers three grades of thermal zirconia: CC, CS and CF. Thermal zirconia are manufactured in France for CC and CS grades and in the USA for CF grades.

Chemical zirconia grades are made by chemical route starting from zirconium oxychloride.

ZirPro offers two grades of chemical zirconia: CZ/CZP and CZE.All chemical grades are manufactured in ZirPro plant in China.

CC grades are thermal zirconia made by fusion of zirconium silicate at high temperature combined with chemical treatments. Thanks to ZirPro unique process, CC powders offer higher reactivity than fused zirconia.

CC powders offer a wide range of d50 and SSA:• D50 from 3.5 µm to 0.7µm• Typical specific surface areas from 3.0 to 6.0 m²/g

CC POWDERS SHOW HIGH REACTIVITY THANKS TOA UNIQUE DENDRITIC MORPHOLOGY

THE CC10 TYPICAL GRAIN MORPHOLOGY IS ROUNDISH AND MAINTAINED EVEN AFTER MILLING

CC grades are recommended for applications requiring pure thermal zirconia powders.

Industrially produced in France using the highest standards of production to ensure continuous supply and consistent quality.

CS grades are obtained through the purification of CC thermal zirconia leading to powders with increased purity together with a better control of the specific surface area (SSA).Similarly to CC grades, CS powders show zirconia particles with unique and uniform dentritic morphology offering higher reactivity than fused zirconia.

A large range of d50 and SSA is achievable:• D50 from 3.5µm to 0.6µm• Typical specific surface area from 1.5 to 6.5 m2/g

CS GRADES EXHIBIT SUPERIOR PURITY COMPARED TO CC GRADES

THE ROUNDISH GRAIN MORPHOLOGY IS CONSERVED AFTER MILLING

CS powders are used in applications requiring reactive premium grades of thermal zirconia with high level of purity.

CF Zirconia

M A I N A P P L I C AT I O N S

CF grades are thermal zirconia powders produced by the fusion of zirconium silicate using plasma arc followed by chemical treatments. The plasma technology enables achieving the highest reactivity among all thermal zirconia grades regardless of the particle size.

CF zirconia offers high specific surface area typically around 6 m²/g and particle size ranging from 7.0 to 1.0 µm.Soft agglomerates around 95µm are also available for specific applications (see CF grade on next page).

CF POWDERS EXHIBIT HIGHER REACTIVITY THAN CC GRADESTHANKS TO FINER DENDRITIC MORPHOLOGIES

CF powders are recommended for applications requiring pure thermal zirconia with high reactivity.

Manufactured in the USA using the highest standards of production to ensure continuous supply and consistent quality.

CF10 / CF02:

• Thermal barrier coatings

• Magnesia-stabilized zirconia ceramics (MgPSZ),

a ceramic composed of CF powders exhibits a yellow color

• Pigments for ceramic tiles decoration

• Refractory parts (bricks, ...)

• Stone polishing
