This still life drawing is my best drawing so far. It represents commitment and dedication to self improvement hence the title ‘Dedicated vessels’. I made 3 copies of this drawing before arriving at this final piece.

INDIE

Year: 2012

The hat and the round rimmed shades used to be a very fundamental part of my dressing. People called me Indie as the two accessories made me stand out. The hat and the round rimmed shades hence became my symbols of individuality.

FAMILYYear: 2012Media: PencilDimensions: A3 size

At my school, students are broken into groups known as advisory families headed by a teacher (advisor). This is a figure drawing (portrait) of my advisory sister and this drawing of her symbolises how strong family ties are. From the picture, one can see that she is injured on her left hand and is not smiling. This shows that family would always be there even in the worst of times.

‘IKU’

Year: 2012Media: PencilDimensions: A3 size

Iku is a story about a boy who was banished from his village with his mother because he was a twin. Twins were seen as a sign of misfortune and sorrow in the Yoruba tradition. Although his brother died in the Dark forest, he survived but his mother sold him off to the evil one, Esu, as she feared he might die as well. Years later, Esu came to claim the soul of the young boy and turned him into an immortal, cursed to roam the earth raining judgement on the wicked. My greatest ambition is to transform the image of Africa by producing originally African movies and animations to International quality hence letting the world know that there is more to Africa than what they see in the media. Iku is one of my originally African comics centred around the cultural practices and traditions of the Yoruba people.
