    The Physics behind the Metaphysics

Introduction Frequency domain vs. time domain the physical is in the time domain and the

non-physical is in the frequency domain (William Buhlman, Robert Monroe)

At any given instant of time, there are all frequencies around us - light, heat, cellphone, GPS, AC power, lights, radio, TV, were inundated by frequencies

    constantly.

On the other side, frequency dominates, and all times are available at one

frequency. (Monroe, OBE to the future)

    Vibrations

How are vibrations described?Vibrations, or waves, have frequency and amplitude which is the intensity.

Low frequency means low energy and low pitch for musical notes.

High frequency means high energy and high pitch for notes.

Waves can combine and interfere either constructively or destructively. Destructive

interference occurs where the frequencies cancel. Constructive interference occurs where

the frequencies sum. Resonance is created when many waves of the same frequency are

added and can be very powerful.

Wave can also be damped. This means the wave itself (and all of its energy) slowlyapproach zero. See the next picture.

Vibrations and their relation to the Law of AttractionAbraham, in his book Ask and it is Given says to not focus on the opposite, but to notfocus at all on things you dont want to attract into your life. In physics terms that means,

don't modify the waves frequency, but decrease its amplitude!!!

According to Abraham, to attract something into your life you must resonate with its

vibration, meaning to live as if you already have what you want to attract.

Vibrations and the quantum nature of matter

Atoms are made of nuclei (protons and neutrons) and electrons.

Electrons orbit the nucleus only in certain

orbits, defined by their energies - certain

quantum levels. The entire physical universeexists at these specific energies. They are

very small gradations, not noticeable to the

    human day-to-day experience.

As an example, the Northern Lights areelectrons from the Sun, spinning down the

Earth's magnetic field lines colliding withNitrogen and Oxygen in the atmosphere,

knocking their electrons into a higher orbit.

When the electrons finally lose that energyand decay back down to their 'ground state',

they give off photons (light particles) of specific energies, which correspond to the

    beautiful colors we see.

So is the Metaphysical related to the quantum nature of matter? In one of RobertMonroe's books, he asked his spirit guide (which he called Inspec) how access to the non-

physical was related to our theory of the atom, and his guide said that it's related to the

'spin' of the electron. Some evidence is coming to light on that from Dr Ronald Bryan(http://faculty.physics.tamu.edu/bryan/)

Seth uses the term CU for consciousness units, which create EE units, electromagneticunits in our physical reality. Seth has an interesting description of these CUs:

These units of consciousness move faster than the speed of light, then but that

statement itself is meaningless in a way, since the units exist outside as well asinside the framework in which light itself has meaningIt goes without saying

that the units of consciousness are mental [and] from their inner organization all

physical forms emerge. Certain intensities are built up of [consciousness] unitorganization even before the smallest physical particle, or even invisible

physical particle exists. These units form what you think of as the mind, around

which the structure of the brain is formulated. The units permeate the brain.

More research is definitely needed here!

    The Physics Dilemma

    Particle or wave?

Experiments in the early part of the 20th century showed that

light can be thought of as a wave (Sun rays). Further

experiments were best explained if light was thought of as aparticle, called the photon. Photons have no mass, meaning

they have no weight. So, since light was both a wave and a particle, what about

matter? Could an electron or a proton which were definitely

particles and had mass, be waves too?

Yes, indeed, it turns out that all particles

have wave properties as well.To find out once and for all whether

these objects were waves or particles, a

physicist named Young did what's nowcalled the double-slit experiment.Light through one or two slits produces

a diffraction pattern (Areas of dark and

light patches on the screen due to waveinterference - wave phenomenon!)

Young reduced the amount of light inthe experiment to only one photon at a

time, expecting to get a random pattern

of light specks on the screen. Since there was only one photon at a time, there would beno interference.

What he got was the full diffraction pattern, assembled on the screen one photon at a

time!He decided to set up a measuring device to count how many photons went through one of

the slits. When he did this, he got the single slit diffraction pattern - the observer

interfered with reality, simply by observing. The photons acted as if the other slit was notthere.

Different interpretations of how the physical world worksThis conclusion led researchers to dub the matter wavesprobability waves and associated

the particle state of the matter with a "wave collapse" - a definite state the matter took on.

What caused the wave collapse? The observer observing matter in a particular state.

This led to two competing theories of how our world worked.

    Copenhagen Interpretation

    The observer created reality.

Young tried to count the photons going though the slits, but got only the diffractionpattern!Another illustrative example is when you observe a rainbow; its end point (where the

gold is!) is in a different place for each observer.

Apparently, when any kind of observation happens, the wave function collapses,

causing the particles to go into a specific state that we observe.

    Many Worlds Interpretation

Every possible outcome actually happens, but in an infinite number of parallel universes.

Every time an observation is made or a choice is posed, both outcomes (and every

possible outcome) actually occurs, but our reality only gets to see one of those outcomes.

This sounds weird, but this theory is actually starting to lead the debate. Who knowswhere all this will end up, but its fun to watch!

EnergyEnergy is defined as a specific property of matter or light specifying the capability to do

    work.

    Conservation of energy

Simply says that energy cannot be created or destroyed.

    Matter and Energy

Einstein said E = mc2 , meaning matter equals energy. This discovery happened

about the same time as matter waves were discovered.

Dark EnergyNewly uncovered discrepancies in cosmology show that there is not enough

energy that we know about in normal terms to account for the formation and movement

of Galaxies. Astrophysicists have dubbed the missing energy necessary to account for

this Dark Energy. How is this energy related to non-physical energy? Good question!Does the conservation of energy law apply to non-physical energy? In our physical

universe, energy is neither created nor destroyed, only transformed.

Non-physical energy experiment (based on Robert Bruce's New Energy Ways

    (NEW) program)

Get in a comfortable, relaxed position.Take three deep breaths, imagining bringing in light energy on the in breath.

On the out breath, imagine your body relaxing more and more.

Now, imagine you are using a large paint brush to brush the bottoms of your feet. Youcan also imagine doing this on your hands, whichever youre more comfortable with.

Feel each bristle slide across your skin and experience the sensations that come to you as

you allow energy to flow through your feet or hands.

Do this painting, back and forth, slowly for a few minutes.

Do you feet any sensations in your feet or palms? This is non-physical energy interacting with our nerves allowing us to feel physical

    sensations.

The Scientific TheoryHow scientists discover the laws of nature, using the scientific method, and why that

doesn't work for non-physical effects. The current Scientific method can be summarized to this:

Develop a hypothesis, an idea of the way things work.

Develop an experiment to test your hypothesis.

    Conduct the Experiment.

Examine your experimental evidence to determine if the hypothesis is correct orincorrect

If the hypothesis is incorrect, modify the hypothesis and start over.

Based on this theory, we need objective evidence for anything to be proved. Its no

wonder science disregards metaphysics! Metaphysics is experienced personally and not

(yet) subject to observations that todays scientists demand. There are ways to work towards a group consensus of a particular phenomenon. For

example, we all dream, but we cannot use the scientific theory to prove it.

A good question to ask is what is really real? It may seem easy to answer, but from ascientific point of view, the answers are no longer easy. See my Chapter on What is

    Real here for more information:http://teddriver.net/Spirit/book/WhatIsReal.htm.
