Hello!
I realized, as I sat down to write this, that in
the three years I’ve been here - can you believe
it’s been THREE YEARS - I’ve never written a
little note in the newsletter to all of you! Well,
I’m writing you today to let you know the staff
and I miss all of you and are looking forward to
being a team again when the Senior Center
re-opens! This is, as my youngest daughter likes
to say, “just for a little bit!”
We’ve been through a lot together in the past
three years and our doors will re-open up when
that “A LOT” is over! I’m looking forward to
opening our doors and celebrating with all of
you once we get through this! An email will go
out once we have a reopen date. I will also be
updating the voicemail on the main line,
707.778.4399, so please check that periodically
for updates regarding reopening.
I’m getting cabin fever already, but want you to
know I’m checking my email,
[email protected], several times a
day, and I want to hear from you! You can also
leave me a message on voicemail, 707.778.4399.
I’ll be checking the messages morning, noon,
and night! I’ll try to answer any questions you
have or I can just listen if you need someone to
talk to. I may need someone to talk to too after
being at home all day with my girls and hus-
band!
Be well and stay healthy!

Art & Nature
Marijke’s Grove is currently open daily from 10 to 4.
Paradise Ridge Winery
4545 Thomas Lake Harris Drive. Santa Rosa, CA 95403
In 1960 Walter Byck proposed to his girlfriend Marijke Hoenselaars in a sculpture grove in the Netherlands. This was the beginning of a love affair between Marijke,
Walter, and art.
After moving to Sonoma County and opening Paradise Ridge Winery, Walter focused his attention on finding a place on the estate for an outdoor sculpture garden. He
found the perfect location in a four-acre grove of wooden glens with ancient gnarled oaks and open meadows. These “galleries” were connected by simple footpaths. The sculptures were placed among mossy rocks and grassy clearings. After working with a number of curators, Walter began to oversee the yearly art exhibits himself. In 2006 after Marijke’s sudden passing, Walter dedicated the grove to her and it is now known
as Marijke’s Grove.
Instead of permanent pieces, Marijke’s Grove supports the arts with a
biennial changing exhibit. In 2012 the Byck Family began working with the Voigt
Family Sculpture Foundation. Their combined efforts bring cutting edge free public
art to the foothills of Sonoma County.
The gates to the estate are open to the public from 10- 4:00 daily, allowing visitors a
chance to experience the art & nature of Paradise.

DEAR ALL MOMS,
THANK YOU FOR RAISING ME AND HELPING ME
BECOME THE PERSON I AM TODAY. YOU TAUGHT ME HOW TO
BE, NOT JUST A GOOD PERSON, BUT A GREAT HUMAN BEING.
YOU TAUGHT ME HOW TO PERSEVERE WHEN THINGS GOT
TOUGH. YOU SHOWED ME THE MEANING OF RESPECT AND
COURTESY AND HOW TO CARE FOR OTHERS.
GROWING UP, I KNOW I WASN’T THE EASIEST TO DEAL WITH.
MY STUBBORN ATTITUDE DEFINITELY GOT ME IN TROUBLE
MORE THAN ONCE, BUT YOU STILL LOVED ME. MY QUICK
TEMPERAMENT MADE FOR DANGEROUS AND FUNNY
MOMENTS, BUT YOU STILL LOVED ME. NO MATTER MY FAULTS
AND NO MATTER THE CRAZY THINGS I DID, YOU ALWAYS
LOVED ME. THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE. THANK
YOU MOM FOR BEING YOU.
YOU ARE THE HEART BEAT THAT HOLDS OUR FAMILY
TOGETHER.
LOVE,
SONS AND DAUGHTERS
