CHURCH???

Full sanctuary every Sunday and up close parking

for everyone.

Sunday School classes for children of every age

group.

Only smiling faces.

Twice as righteous as the church down the street.

A twenty-nine-year-old pastor with forty years of

experience, preaching ten-minute sermons, and

visiting in fifteen homes a day—all for $500 a

week.

Programs and small groups to address every felt

need.

Presentations are flawless.

Everyone sings contemporary songs and tradi-

tional songs with gratitude.

No appeals for money and volunteers. Everyone

simply gives and works to get the mission done.

Only affirmations and celebrations—no gossip or

complaints or whining.

Everyone always cleans up after their event and puts everything back in place.

You can probably add to the list. If we could Photoshop the church, we could be the most perfect

church in town.

Like the Photoshopped faces of models and movie stars a Photoshopped church does not reflect

reality. Appearances only go so far, don’t they?

None of the churches to whom Paul wrote “had it all together.” There were turf wars, conflicts

between subgroups, and the teaching that was not always on target. Some wealthy influential mem-

bers were shown preference. There was gossip and back biting. In the name of love and tolerance,

license was given on occasion. The churches that Paul wrote to were a mess.

Yet Paul thanked God for the churches he visited on his missionary journey.

Paul said the church was like the bride of Christ and Jesus was the groom. I have never met a

groom who wasn’t ga-ga crazy for his bride. And I’ll just bet His feelings for us are just as intense

and passionate.

Jesus doesn’t look through rose-colored glasses at his church, or see the church as what it could

potentially be—He just loves the church. He just loves us.

Without photoshopping the church he continues his ministry and mission. With a place for us in

his church there’s a place for everyone. Invite someone to worship with you this week. Let them see

the church as it really is. In His love, Martin

CHOIR NOTES

I really enjoyed the bell choir pieces

this past Sunday. I hope you did, too.

Praise songs for this coming Sunday

will be "You are My King" and a new

song "One Thing Remains." The choir

will sing "Precious Spirit, Breath of

Peace," a moving piece for Pentecost

Sunday.

See you Sunday!

Hope & Guild will continue meeting through June and will begin meet-

ing as a combined circle July 8, 2015 at 1:00pm.

Dear Members,

On behalf of the campers,

Board of Directors and

staff of Central Christian Camp, thank

you for your unwavering support and

generous contribution of $600. Your

gift is greatly appreciated.

Through the continued support of do-

nors like you, Central Christian is able

to improve the camping experience for

all the participants here on our camp

ground facility. The staff has complet-

ed construction of a new archery per-

gola and are wrapping up the con-

struction of the new bathhouse. We

are looing forward to another wonder-

ful year of camping.

You have truly helped to “change

lives, one camper at a time.”

Our new VBS-Style

Sunday School has in-

corporated songs, skits,

small groups, and even

games as we’ve utilized

fun new themes to draw

attention to timeless

truths!

Over the last few

months our children’s

Sunday School class has grown, and we are seeing lots of

new faces on Sunday mornings!!

Many of these children have no real church experience, and

this may be their first time attending a church on a

regular basis!

HOW EXCITING!!!

For this important ministry to continue we need your help! There’s

a lot that goes into making Sunday meaningful for children.

Most of our young people do not have a parent that drives them to

church, instead the church van must go and get them. After they

arrive we feed them a light-snack breakfast, because many of them

do not eat breakfast on the weekends. They attend their Sunday

school class while the young adults slip away for a few minutes of

study and conversation. After Sunday School, we try to sit quietly

together in the sanctuary observing and absorbing worship and an-

swering the whispers…“Why do we pray so much? What’s com-

munion, can I have some? Why do I have to sit still while that guy

talks?” Then it’s back on the van, to drop everyone off!

What a joy it is to serve these little ones, and their families! There

are many ways to be involved with our Children’s ministries –

Would you consider partnering with us over the summer to drive a

Sunday School Van, Serve Pop-Tarts, Teach Class for a Week, or

Sit With the Children in the Sanctuary
