CHURCH NOTICES FROM THE VICAR – NOT ASHAMED ''I AM NOT ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL, BECAUSE IT IS THE POWER OF GOD FOR THE SALVATION OF EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES: FIRST FOR THE JEW, THEN FOR THE GENTILE (you and I) December 1st was; 'Not ashamed day in the UK'. For my last column I thought I would share a reflection on it. When I first came to Amuri one person said to me; 'For Christ's sake why have you come to the Amuri?' normally blasphemy gets a quiet rebuke from me. But I felt prompted to reply; "You have just given me the reason why'', in other words we came to the Amuri for Christ's sake. I am passionate about the Gospel message. What is the Gospel? Well in day and age of soundbites. I share the following from Mark 10:45 ''For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.'' That is a timeless message. BUT the way we Package, Process and Present (the 3p's as I often put them to my students) MUST change. That is what has caused me to accept being head hunted for this new exciting position in the Diocese of Waiapu. Recently I have been formally accepted by the University of Chester in the UK as a Tutor for Ordinands training to be future Clergy in the Church of God from all Denominations. If they elect to write the unit ''Mission and Ministry in the Local Church'' they will very likely get me as their tutor. It has been a privilege and honour to take part in this ministry for a while now. Its importance is further seen in now having it up skilled by University Moderation. All tutors are asked to write to their prospective students. For all I share the 3p's and the Gospel, but go on to say that We are on a joint pilgrimage together, we will learn from each other. Recently I received a letter from a student being ordained into the church of Ireland, in it he said he had started on the unit in fear and trepidation unsure of study at all, and that our journey together had meant everything to him and his confidence in the call God had given him. He by now is a deacon in the Church of Ireland. Deeply humbling. Would you join me in prayer for supporters of the NOT ASHAMED Crusade, as we stand together and speak of Jesus Christ. Let us gather to pray for our Nation of New Zealand post Election, and post earthquakes in Christchurch. Where folk need to hear a Gospel for which many of us are NOT ASHAMED. Let's stand together and speak up for Jesus Christ - the only real hope for our nation this ADVENT (the period of lead up to Christmas) WEAR the Symbol, DECLARE the Hope, and SHARE the Vision. Pray for Sheila, Joanna, John and James and myself as we will for you. Warmest Blessings and prayers, Craig Regional Missioners Raphine Anglicans Making Jesus Known Fissional Diocese of Waiapu.
