Interest
• As coaches we often see our trainee soldiers struggle with certain personal aspects. The best way for them to improve in these areas is through self education. This can be achieved using the performance profile, which is a psychological tool that aids recruits in visually identifying their own weaknesses.
![Page 5: The Performance Profile](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022081603/56814fca550346895dbd888c/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Need
• As instructors we can use this tool to our advantage as it can be used to aid us in the writing of reports.
• Trainee soldiers are able to identify their own weaknesses and see an improvement in these areas as they progress through the training environment.
• This in turn will give the trainee soldier a greater sense of achievement.

The Performance ProfileStage 1: Generation (raise awareness)
• Develop rapport.• Introduce the tool.• Brainstorm the constructs.• Maintain a focus on the ideal. • Use the coachee’s own words.• Probe for understanding.• Integrate the constructs into a profile.

The Performance ProfileStage 2: Evaluation (generate responsibility)
• Employ the scale of 1-10.• Rate the importance of each construct on the scale• Rate where the coachee is now.• Probe for understanding.• Validate against experience.
