Vanessa Borrell is behind Lady Desidia. She grew up surrounded by crayons and she remembers herself always drawing. She has a degree in Fine Arts in Salamanca and she currently lives in Madrid where she has her studio.

She signs her illustration works, pattern designs and since 2008 her own project named Lady Desidia.

In her drawings nature is intermingled with everyday and absurd objects. Using fine lines she creates little oneiric worlds which wrap, tangle and coexists with the characters, usually femenine and a bit melancholic.

“Illustrations arise from the experiences I live, from what I see and happens around me. I find inspiration in my friends, old films and books, fabrics, ceramics and mostly in nature and childhood memories. I enjoy working with memory spaces and telling stories, because through drawings I recover everything that I loved in my childhood.”
