Annual Communion Breakfast, Sunday, May 31st

And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed. - Matthew 14:35-36 My Brothers and Sisters,

I write this message in a very strange time. Our Churches have been temporarily shuttered, our houses closed, most of us are working from home if we are working at all and we are told to stay inside until further notice. Many say that this reaction is very extreme, and it is. Extreme but necessary. Being told to stay home is not the worst thing we could be told to do. Being taken from our homes would be unbearable. Being told to stay home with all of the luxuries that we have today is not so bad. Not being able to go to Mass, especially during the Lenten season and for Easter, is very difficult. However we are a people of Faith. Faith is not knowing what the future holds, but knowing who holds the future. So stay home, pray, watch Mass on TV or online, and stay faithful. Use this time to cherish each other, your family, your friends and your neighbors. Be kind and help one another when you are able. Let this become an opportunity to stay faithful and to put your Faith into Action.

The purpose of this Newsletter has always been to bring the news and activities of our Council to the members. This edition is no different. However because of current conditions there are many things that are changing. Please take note of all of the changes to our Council Calendar. Many events have been rescheduled or cancelled. We have many other ways to stay in touch and we ask that you use all of them if able. All of those different ways are found in this edition. I hope to see you all soon! Last but certainly not least, my wife Jessica and I want to wish you all a very Happy Easter!!

The Memorial Mass will be Sunday May 3rd at St. Isidore in Riverhead, with a banquet to follow after

the Mass at the Polish Hall. Tickets are $45 ( not $35 as previously reported) per person. Please call

Fr. Seyfried Council 821 in Kings Park. Anyone interested in running for Office send your letter of intent

Congratulations to our newest life member, Louis A. Fuoco III and Honorary Life Member Francis J. Lopez. I am happy to report that our records and forms are currently all up to date. Please update your information as needed. If you have changed your mailing address and have not been receiving the Columbia magazine and membership bills please contact me. Membership cards are mailed as dues come in. As of March 1, 2020 we have 251 associate; 119 insurance; 24 inactive members for a total of 394 members. Recruit a new member today. Anyone interested in joining the 4th degree,

March 14th. We had a hearty crowd and a fun time was had by all!

Brothers,

As I try to write my message it is difficult to know what to say. It is sad that the Churches are closed till after Easter. I copied a piece of State Chaplain Fr. Brian’s message and it says more then I ever could.

“My Brother Knights, As we find ourselves in the midst of the Lenten Season our community is very concerned (and some fearful of the virus that is being suffered by many). I have found this somewhat perplexing. We are seeking remedies as we should. We are taking precautions as we should. And we are curtailing some of our activities which we enjoy which as we should. There is a Scriptural text which we should reference particularly now: Fear not him who can kill the body, rather fear him who can kill the spirit. How committed are we to prevent the latter. We are stocking up on Purell, wiping our door knobs, and making sure we have tissues at the ready. But are we also caring about protecting our eternity? We live in a society that has a virus. It is far moral destructive than that which comes from another human being. It is the virus of sin and this is the season given to us by Christ and His Church to control it and eradicate it in our lives. We are told that viral infections spread. It is true. All too often we act in such a way.”

As you already know, all Masses have been cancelled until 4/14/20. Due to the circumstances that we are undergoing, and in the best interest and well being of our Members, the following changes have been made to our Council Calendar:

* Our April Business Meeting will take place on APRIL 20th. There will be NO

Meeting on April 6th. * The Fish Dinner and Prayer service scheduled for Good Friday April 10th is

Cancelled. * Our next Officers Meeting will be held on April 27th at 7:30 pm. * The Communion Breakfast is now scheduled for Sunday May 31st. All other

details regarding the Breakfast remain the same (time, cost, location etc.). In Addition, the following Events have also been Cancelled:

* The125th Annual New York State Council Convention * The Palm Sunday Mass and Communion Breakfast at The Seminary

Please be aware that this is an ever evolving situation and any and all of these dates and times are subject to change as things develop. Patchogue Council 725, along with our Columbiettes and the Suffolk Chapter will be holding our Annual Communion Breakfast On Sunday, May 31st. Our Council will attend the 10:00 Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and the breakfast will follow right after Mass at our Council. Cost is only $5 per person. My Dear Sister Columbiettes and Brother Knights

I hope this newsletter finds you all well and safe from the Coronavirus Pandemic. As you probably have heard Governor

Cuomo has asked all New Yorkers to stay home and use social distancing when you go out to shop. Please use the special

hours designated by Shop & Stop and other stores for people 60 and over to do their shopping.

Our April meeting is canceled as it falls within the 4-6 week “shelter in place” mandated by the CDC. April is the month that we normally

have nominations for officers. I have contacted the nominating committee and as soon as we have a slate of officers you will be

contacted by email or phone. The Victorian Tea has been postponed until June, date TBA.

The annual Columbiette State Convention is June 12 – 14 this year and it is a fun and informative weekend for Columbiettes. You get to

meet sister Columbiettes from all over New York and enjoy learning about their auxiliaries and chapters. If you would like to attend or

find out more about the Convention, please contact me. I have forms for room reservations and the cost for the entire weekend is

$365.00 per person. The convention is being held at The Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon, NY.
