PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Hello SBPHC!

If you didn't make it to Music On The Bay...all I can say is WOW! It was a great event again this year. Dorothy and her MOTB committee did a great job. The weather was perfect and I believe it was the largest attendance of all time. We are still waiting on the final numbers. All the bands did a great job and they also had some incredible door prizes and raffle items. Dennis did an awesome job once again on the board he created just for this event.

We have reserved a bus to take concertgoers to the Jimmy Buffett concert and tailgate. Details will be coming soon. If you don’t have a hotel room, we recommend going on the bus and letting someone else do the driving. The bus trip is a great party all in itself!

Speaking of a great party, don't forget about our 21st Birthday party coming up June 9th-11th at the Magnuson Hotel and Marina in St Pete. If you have not checked this hotel out yet, I highly recommend you do so. It is an incredible hotel and it is going to be a great party. The headliner playing Saturday night is Southern Drawl Band and as we all know they are great! Check out the flyer in the newsletter and get registered. You do have to be registered BEFORE you can get your hotel room. It's going to be an awesome event!

Don't forget to check out the newsletter, Facebook and web site for all the information on upcoming events. VERY busy year coming up.....so don't miss anything.

SBPHC....What time is it?

It’s time for a team drink!

BOLO! BOLO! BOLO! BOLO!

Parrot Heads, please keep an eye out for emails from the club’s new membership site. The Bored has worked very hard on this project to make joining or renewing your membership a breeze! The Club now has a Paypal account that can be used to pay your membership or event registrations online. This is still a work in progress! More events will be added so that you can see who will be attending. Take a moment to check out the site. Any and all questions or feedback, please contact Lucie Przybylowicz at [email protected].

ISLAND CLEAN UP #1

We as SBPHC members all promised to “cleeeeean the beaches”! On Saturday, February 25th, 20 members made good on that promise. It was another beautiful day in paradise as we picked up tennis balls, bottles, cans, a flip flop, a tennis shoe…. you name it, we picked it up! Because of our efforts, Edwards Island and Coconut Island are cleaner for all to enjoy. Thank you to all that participated and a special “thank you” goes out to our 2 boat captains. Without them, we could not do island clean ups. Mark your calendars for the next clean up on April 22nd, when there will be a cookout following the island clean up. This is a Keet-friendly event and a must do for all members, at least once, to attend! Sherry Swartz

Tuesday on the Island

We meet the 3rd Tuesday of the month on

before sunset. Click the link below for a video!

“The White Lei” If you see someone wearing one, that means they are new members to the club.

Welcome them and tell them how much fun they are going to have as a member of the Sarasota Bay Parrot Head Club! Every month I spotlight the new members that I have met at the meetings. Next time you see someone wearing a white lei, ask them to join your group! They all joined to make new friends, clean the environment and have a lot of fun along the way.

This month I asked each new member what their favorite Buffett song is & why!

MIMI SNYDER is the daughter of Don & Gina Snyder. She joined because she is always with her parents at the club events and wanted to be a bigger part of the fun. She wants to go the Buffett concert as a SBPHC member. Mimi is currently working 3 jobs, mostly dealing with marketing. Mimi’s favorite Buffett song is “Fins” because it is a catchy tune! GLORIA McQUILLAN is a friend of Evelyn Martin. She is a second generation Florida Cracker. Her family has been in the area since 1910. She remembers when the water was blue in the gulf, not green as it currently is. Gloria’s favorite Buffett song is “Cheeseburger in Paradise” she says it speaks to her Island life!

Sherry Swartz – The Profiler

We need more Fruitcakes in this world & less bakers! Do you love to mingle, jingle, being a social Parrot Head? Well, do we have a job for you! Fruitcakes are members that help new members get acquainted with the club. Fruitcakes help new members learn all the ways our club communicates to the members, understanding all of the club events and charities.

We want to make sure that every one of our members knows who, what, where, how and why about our club and to make sure they meet and make new friends.

Please contact Lucie at [email protected] if you are interested in being a SBPHC Fruitcake.

Saturday, June 3, 2017—Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL

The club has arranged for a bus to transport ticketholders to the concert.

Keep checking your email and Facebook for details!

<—— Now available on DVD and Netflix!

Directed by Bryce Wagoner (“After Porn Ends”), the film chronicles what started out as a small group of friends. It eventually grew into a worldwide organization known as Parrot Heads in Paradise, which encourages members to “party with a purpose.” And they practice what they preach, having raised more than 40 million dollars in charity donations.

Traveling the globe from Key West to Paris, Costa Rica to California, the international phenomenon even inspired its own genre of music, Trop Rock (short for Tropical Rock).

Let us know if you see yourself in the film!
