MARCH 8, 2020

Dear Friends,

Abraham is called by God to leave his homeland and go off “to a land I will show you.” We admire Abraham’s great faith and trust in God. The Scriptures tell us he made this journey when he was seventy-five years old. This was no easy journey. But, at God’s call, he went. And he set out only because he trusted God’s promises.

Certainly, immigrants can have a sense of that faith and trust which Abraham shows us. For most, it is not easy to leave home, even if you have family in the new land who may be encouraging you to make the move. Abraham went on faith—and that faith was rewarded.

As we seek to follow the call of God, we need that same faith and trust. Lent challenges us to hear God’s call to grow in love, to rededicate ourselves to service, to sacrifice on behalf of others, to deepen our prayer. As we pray, God may speak to us too. Do not hesitate when God calls you! May God use us as he transfigures the world into the image of his Son.

Peace and blessings,

Father Tom

Paz y bendiciones, Padre Tom
