The Parablesof Jesus Christ

Parables

• Jesus told stories or used short illustrations so that people could understand his teachings. He would

often use examples that people could relate to, like shepherds or vineyards.

• Jesus is arguably the greatest story teller of all time. All his stories are originals. No ancient source can compare in both originality and depth of meaning.

• Example: many have argued that the Parable of the Prodigal Son is the best short story of all time.

Baaaaa!

There was once a shepherd who had 100 sheep.

One day, one of them ran away and the shepherd left

the other sheep to go find it.

Here, Lamby,Lamby!

He brought back the sheep to the rest of his flock.

Then, he celebrated with his neighbors about the return of his sheep. So to, will God do for

any sinner who wanders away.

The Lost CoinThe Lost Coin

Jesus said, “Suppose a woman has ten silver Jesus said, “Suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Does she not light a lamp, coins and loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?”finds it?”

And when she finds it, she calls her And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.' In the same way, I tell you, there is coin.' In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.“God over one sinner who repents.“

There was once a man with a great vineyard.

One day, he left on a journey, and left some

tenants in charge.

While he was gone, the tenants decided to keep

the vineyard for themselves.

It’s all Ours!!!

The owner then sent a servant to go and get some of the produce of the vineyard.

The tenants beat the servant and threw him out.

The owner then sent two more

servants to collect some produce.

The tenants also beat them and

threw them out.

The owner then sent his only son and heir, thinking that the

tenants would listen to him.

The tenants, when seeing the son decided to kill him

and receive his inheritance.

When the owner returned, he had the tenants arrested and he gave the vineyard away.

BAD SERVANTS!

This story shows the story of Jesus. God (owner) sent the prophets (servants) but

they were ignored. Then God sent His only Son (Jesus) thinking that people would

listen to Him, but they killed Jesus instead.

When the Son of Man comes in his glory he will sit upon his throne and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he

will separate the sheep from the goats. . .

Baa! I’m a goat!Baa! I’m a sheep!

To the Sheep: Come, you who are blessed, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was

hungry and you gave me food, thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and

you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.

When did we see you hungry, thirsty, ill, naked or in prison?

And the king will say, “Whatever you didFor the least of my brothers and sisters you did

To me.”

Then the King will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed into the eternal fire prepared for the devils and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, thirsty and you gave me no drink, a stranger and you

gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison and you did not care for me.”

When did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked Or ill or in prison?

“What you did not do for the least of my brothers and sisters

you did not do for me.”

And these will go off to eternal punishment,But the righteous to eternal life.
