The Orchestra has 4 families. The strings, woodwind, brass and percussion.

The strings family consistthe Violin , Viola, Cello, Harp and the Double bass.

The stringsThe strings are the foundation of the

orchestra. With their enormous sound from the lowest notes of the double bass to the highest sound of the violin.

Their tones go together so that the violins overlap with the violas and the violas with the Cellos giving consistent background.

The woodwind family consist Flutes, Oboes and saxophones.

The woodwind

Unlike the strings, which form an unified family ,the woodwind instruments are so varied that they are hardly a family at all.

In the group they vary from the high skirling of the piccolo to the low growling of the double bassoon.

The brass family consists trumpets, cornets ,trombones ,tuba and French horns

The brassThe brass is the glory of the orchestra. The instruments are magnificent to look at

the shining bells of the trombones.Apart from the trombones, all brass

instruments change key by means of valves.

The Percussion family consists the Drums, Cymbals and the triangle.

percassionFrom the thunders sound of the bass drum

to the little sound of the triangle . Like the trumpets in the brass section , the

drums are basically military instruments.
