Many thanks to Donny Dillon, College Minister with the College Ministry (Gators for Christ) at University City Church of Christ in Gainesville for bringing such good speakers for our assembly last Sunday. We look forward to their next word of encouragement. Feed them and they will come!

Welcome Visitors and Members! We hope that your experience today will add something meaningful to your life in Christ Jesus. If you are new to the area and would like more information about this church, let us know. If you are just visiting our island community, then we hope

to see you again. Would you like to confess your faith in Jesus Christ and repent of your sins today? Come forward during the last song and we will assist you in obeying Christ as Lord – or let us know your desire some other time. We can arrange a time for your baptism into Christ. If you are a Christian and wandered away from home with the Lord, you may also make your desires known and we will pray for God to forgive your sins, and fully restore you to Jesus Christ and joyful fellowship with other Christians.

Share the Good News! Free Bible studies and much more are available at our congregation’s web site Cedar Key Church of Christ. We also have the church’s weekly Bulletin on our web site.

To vote or not to vote – why do people anguish over this simple act of love for your country? Consider the fact that many of the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and Coast Guardsmen, Merchant Marines, and others died for your right to vote even before they were themselves old enough to vote. Please pray for guidance then go and vote! It is our duty and privilege as American citizens.

Bible Question What fruit did the spies sent out by Moses bring back to show the people as proof of God’s promises? (Numbers 13)

We Are Able To Overcome!

But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.”(Numbers 13:30 ESV)

Have you ever wondered in the night why some people who live in the harshest circumstances are able to get up each day and cheerfully do a job that no one else wants to do and even refuses to do? Pay attention to that person picking up your garbage, shucking your oysters or picking your tomatoes. Consider the soldier who refuses to back down in retreat when victory seems impossible. Don’t try to tell that kid who was born with only one arm that he will never be in the Olympics. Sincere and unexplainable faith is the lightning that spurs those without any advantage to do more than those born with plenty of money, personality and good looks. (Joshua 14:6-12) Why is it that so many people give up doing the things that brought them joy from their labors when we reach that arbitrary age that some expert decided folks should quit working. Consider God’s servant Caleb who was 85 years old and fully believed that he was strong enough for the Lord to use him in driving out the giants that caused others to quake in their sandals. (Hebrews 11:23-27) The giant that prevents many people from doing more for the Lord is FEAR inside our heads. Moses was not afraid to take on the huge challenge that the invisible God gave him to lead Israel out of the 400 year slavery. (Philippians 4:6-8) Worry is another invisible giant that is only a word describing a person who enjoys making excuses more that setting about to accomplish as task to bring glory to Christ out King.(Ephesians 4:30-32) Uncontrolled anger destroys the best intentions to accomplish something worthwhile. There is no future in God’s vineyard for a worker who doesn’t get their anger under control! (1 Corinthians 10:13) Temptation is an enemy that must be conquered by everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus! When we go to God for help, he will not allow temptation to destroy our courage.

Just as Caleb knew that he would not fail because he had strong faith in God’s promises. Our Lord Jesus Christ is able to deliver us safely through all the battles of this life and deliver us into the Promised Land. We can faithfully and joyfully sing: “To Canaan’s Land I’m On My Way” when we know we are living in unwavering faith in Jesus. DB
