The Open 2022 will go down as one of the most historic golfing events of this generation. It will be played on The Old Course at St Andrews, where Zach Johnson was crowned Champion back in 2015 when The Open was last played here.

Johnson was triumphant after an intense four hole play-off against Louis Oosthuizen and Australia’s own Marc Leishman. St Andrews has had its fair share of dramatic Open Championship finishes and boasts an illustrious list of Champions including Jack Nicklaus, Peter Thomson, John Daly, Sir Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods to name a few.

The 150th Anniversary will be fiercely contested by the world’s best golfers; who will put on a show for a chance to etch their name onto the famous Claret Jug for this momentous occasion. And you can be there, watching the final moments; the calm, the focus, the tears and the triumph.

ITINERARY DAY 1 | MON 18 JUL

Depart St Andrews (or any of our Open 2022 accommodations) to play Trump International Golf Links near Aberdeen this afternoon (a wild and exciting course in the dunes). Overnight at The Marcliffe Hotel & Spa with our Welcome Dinner to get to know the group.

DAY 2 | TUE 19 JUL

After breakfast we play Cruden Bay Golf Club, followed by a scenic drive to Inverness for 3-nights, staying at the brand new 5-star Ness Walk on the River Ness, a short walk from the city.

DAY 3 | WED 20 JUL

Today is a rest day (play Nairn Golf Club, an optional extra via pre-booking) to explore Inverness, Loch Ness and surrounding Moray Firth, Rosemarkie Bay and Fort George.

DAY 4 | THU 21 JUL

Today we play the historic and pretty seaside links course of Fortrose & Rosemarkie before returning to Inverness for the evening.

DAY 5 | FRI 22 JUL

After check-out, we play Brora Golf Club, a unique golfing experience with sheep on the fairways and a stunning Firth backdrop. Tonight we stay at the Royal Golf Hotel, next to Royal Dornoch.

The Kittocks Course, St Andrews

Bruce Devlin is known for creating The Kittocks as well as The King’s at Gleneagles and the exclusive Secession Club in South Carolina. The long and challenging course runs along the coastline, offering spectacular views back to the medievel town of St Andrews.

Each day we have tee times or shotgun starts. Normal tee times are walking only, with pull trolleys available. For shotgun starts, motorised buggies are included.

Kingsbarns Golf Links

Just 7 miles from St Andrews, Kingsbarns has built a renowned global reputation, which makes sense from the moment you enter the course. Each hole embraces the sea one way or another and the sheer magnitude of the course is certainly impressive. Enjoy quality service and facilities.

Tee times are included for guests taking the Faldo Package #14. We do have a waitlist for guests who wish to play this course should tee times become available.

The Torrance Course, St Andrews

Former Ryder Cup legend, Sam Torrance loves deep bunkers, large greens and links golf in general. His course reflects his loves and just like its’ sister course next door (The Kittocks), it’s situated clifftop, in true links style; where the weather can control the outcome of your day.

Each day we have tee times or shotgun starts. Normal tee times are walking only, with pull trolleys available. For shotgun starts, motorised buggies are included.

Across many of our Classic and Deluxe Packages, we have included rounds of golf in St Andrews during The Open week, which is a special experience. We hope you make the most of it.

If you select a package that does not include golf, ask us about adding a round of golf to that package. In addition, we can arrange pre/post golf trave; extensions around Scotland and have a Highlands Luxury Golf Tour that plays Royal Dornoch twice amongst other courses.

The Duke’s, St Andrews

Highly regarded as one of the finest heathland championship courses in Britain, The Duke’s offers an impressive setting with panoramic views over the countryside, St Andrews and St Andrews Bay. The Peter Thomson course demands accuracy and inventive play and rewards power golfers, while appealing to all levels.

We have tee times on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during The Open. All rounds include motorised buggies, 2-course lunch with beer or wine.

Carnoustie Golf Links

Located 40 mins from St Andrews is the world renowned Carnoustie Golf Links with 3 courses all in the top 50 in the UK. Over the years either Open Championships have been held here amongst Women’s British Opens, Seniors Opens and annually hosts the Dunhill Links. Carnoustie is an iconic golfing destination and will make for an unforgettable experience pre or post The 150th Open.

Tee times are available on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday exclusively for Events Travel guests. Prices on request and vary according to transport needs and guest numbers.

What ticket types are available?

There are two types of tickets available for The Open 2022. Firstly, General Admission, which is included in all packages by default. Secondly, there is Official Hospitality, available as an upgrade to any package (subject to availability).

When do I receive my tickets and services?

Your tickets will be sent within your Travel Documents, at least two weeks before the event begins. In some circumstances, we may make your tickets available via a ticket collection point or hotel delivery (in this case you will still receive your Travel Documents email). More information will be provided to you on booking.

Can my Travel Agent book with you?

Yes. We work with registered Travel Agents around the world. You are welcome to refer your Travel Agent to us to book on your behalf.

Do you have other hotels available?

We can provide accommodation anywhere, including pre/post the event in Edinburgh, Scotland and around the UK. We can also add extra nights to any package, subject to availability. We have partnerships with leading hotels across the world and can offer hotel recommendations based on your needs plus access to the best available rates. We recommend adding extra nights at the time of booking to ensure you get the best rates and availability.

Do I need travel insurance?

Can I change my package after booking?

What’s the difference between a Package and a Tour?

Packages are designed for independent travellers and are not escorted day-to-day by Events Travel staff. With a Package, you’re travelling on your own, but you may see the Events Travel Onsite Team at formal events, transfers or ticket collection points.

With a Tour, it’s the opposite and you will be escorted throughout the trip by a Tour Manager. Your Tour Manager is there to make sure the trip runs smoothly, to point you in the right direction and to make sure your needs are met. All our Tours are small-groups, intimate and with like-minded travellers.

Both Packages and Tours are carefully designed to balance event and destination experiences and are often themed, for example golf, gourmet or nature.

Can you book my flights?

Yes. We are an accredited IATA Agency and ticket your flights in-house, giving you access to the best available fares .

I have a corporate group, can you assist us?

Absolutely. We specialise in group travel, particularly corporate groups. Your group will have a dedicated Travel Expert on hand to assist your group from start to finish. Get in touch today.

Payment Methods and Fees

We accept bank transfers as well as credit card payments.

A bank transfer fee of £25 applies per transfer from an account outside the UK to our UK bank account.

A bank transfer fee of A$25 applies per transfer from an account outside Australia to our Australian bank account.

For domestic transfers within the UK or within Australia, no fees apply.

All credit card payments incur a merchant fee. Visa and Mastercard is 1.5% and Amex is 1.98%.

What to Expect

Speak to a Travel Expert to start your journey. At this time we recommend adding on extra nights and any other travel services to access the best rates and to ensure availability.

After making a booking, you will receive a Booking Confirmation and invoice with more information and payment instructions. Once payment is made, your travel experience is secured.

Two-weeks before the event begins we will send you a Travel Documents email, containing information about your booking, the services and personalised information. If you require any physical items (such as tickets or merchandise) you will be sent these by post at this time. If you depart for your trip earlier than two-weeks before, please let us know, as we will make your physical items available via a collection point or hotel delivery.

Please let us know when booking if you are planning on departing early.
