In December 2018 the UK government introduced new legislation in England and Wales to ban the use of combustible materials including cladding and balcony components on new builds over 18 metres high, the housing commission are also recommending the removal of ALL combustible materials from the external façades of buildings. Balconies are, for the first time, counted as part of the external wall; classified as a “specified attachment”.

The Ali-Deck System has been independently tested to EN 13823, EN 13501 and EN ISO 1716 and achieves A2-s1, d0 and A2fl-s1 which makes Ali-Deck products fully compliant, and can be used as a flooring, cladding and soffit system if required.

SENIOR BALCONY BOARD

• You can install 90% of the deck board prior to the installation of the balcony if required, once the balcony is installed you can then install the remaining boards

• The ability to be installed on to existing sub frame sections without having to drill additional holes

• Drainage between the boards

We have designed this board to have the ability to cut the board down the length and still be structurally stable under point load, we have also increased the radius on the underside of the board to stiffen the board in the right place to cope with a point load. Fire resistance, these deck boards aremanufactured from structural gradeT6 (6063) aluminium, and combined with a special textured slip resistant coating they achieve a fire rating of A2-s1, d0 & A2fl-s1 and have been independently tested to EN 13501, EN 13823 and EN ISO 1716. • Installing 90% of the deck boards prior to the installation of the balcony means you would spend less time on site if you are installing balconies. The board is designed to be installed from the top, with a “Slotted” machined centre section, this is designed to enable us to pick up on at least one of the bolt channels in the 3 way bolt channel to alleviate the need for on-site drilling, you can then drop the deck board into place once the balcony is installed using the bolt channels and the threads facing up and simply apply the nuts and tighten up..

• The ability to install onto your existing sub frame section without having to drill additional holes. We have designed a 3 way extrusion, 2 up 1 down, this gives you the option to make sure a bolt can pass through the box section on the existing balcony at any point along the box section and then be secured, we then decide on the channels to slide the bolts into depending on the position of the decking in relation to the position of the box section, you need only choose one bolt channel but having 2 gives the option to never have to drill the decking. • Drainage between the boards. You have the ability to choose the space between the boards, depending on how quickly you want the water to run off you can choose between 4mm to 10mm between boards (We recommend 6mm as standard). The board has a cover strip on thetop of the board which has a positiveclick into both sides of the board, it’s a long leg so that any point load and downward loading is adequate, this is a quick fit option that removes most of the problems associated with other composite decking products when installed.

This revolutionary Slip Resistant Deck board has been designed to provide a safe and durable solutionto both commercial and domestic applications. Traditionally this market is flooded with bothcomposite and timber offerings, both of which have been known to cause accidents and injuriesmainly due to lack of maintenance. The Slip Resistant Deck board has been designed to be installed inconjunction with the Ali-Deck Supa Joist (see page 19) which makes the system far quicker to installand promotes even greater longevity.

Our adjustable brackets work in conjunction with all 3 joists, available in 3 distinct sizes and can be manufactured to suit any specific build up height. (minimum order required) they are adjusted to allow insulation to fall underneath and will allow water to pass underneath the joist system, you also have the option to choose a self-adhesive fire resistant fixing pad which has been tested for compatibility with most waterproofing membranes and finishes.

This commercially compliant nosing solution is available, in 6m lengths and available in the same standard colours as the rest of the range (textured silver grey and textured sand) It is perfect for the retrofit timber replacement markets where timber had deteriorated to the point of replacement, due to it being a structural grade aluminium is naturally comes to you with a 60 year design life. This extrusion can be used with all of our 30mm boards and includes the senior, the standard, the flat board and the interlocking board, and if you are happy with a class B fire rated products it works with our slip resistant board too.

MAINTENANCE

If you would like to attend one of our training sessions either for yourself or with your staff, please contact us. We can train up to 6 persons at a time to ensure we thoroughly train each individ-ual, making the training more personal and intensive. This high-level installation training will help you and your staff become experts in our products, ena-bling you to install them with ease and confidence.

The training academy is very popular and can become fully booked quickly so please contact us with the dates you have in mind and we will let you know what’s available. We advise you to book a training session before your order ar-rives so you can feel confident installing the aluminium decking, saving you time and money on site as you will have expe-rience with the system.

Ali-Deck aluminium decking requires minimal maintenance due to the natural rust resistance that aluminium features along with the high durability of our special Qualicoat applied powder coating. Download our maintenance schedule for instructions for maintaining the aluminium decking boards to uphold the warranty and the expected lifespan of the decking. The Ali-Deck training academy was introduced so that our clients can attend a single day training session and walk away feeling educated and confident installing our aluminium decking systems themselves. Ali-Deck will last a lot longer thantimber or composite, reducing theneed to be replaced as often, thereis also no need to maintain the surfaceof Ali-Deck, unlike Wooden Decking forexample.

Wooden decking is often treated withenvironmentally harmful chemicalsthat are used as a preservative, or as amethod of applying an anti-slip coating.

Some people of course do not use anychemicals to preserve their woodendecking, but in those cases it is oftenseen that the decking surface andsubframe is often replaced more oftendue to natural weathering, which willnot be the case for Ali-Deck.

Composite decking has becomepopular in the past, but is not generallyrecyclable due its composite make upof wood, plastic and additives.

1. Does Ali-Deck warp? No, it’s completely made from Aluminium and so does not expand or contract anywhere near the same as composite or timber decking.

2. Is it quick to install? Yes, with the Supa Joist it is 50% quicker to install than any other deck.

3. Does it require maintenance like timber decking? No, it is powder-coated and is not porous and does not expand or contract like timber so the coating lasts for a minimum of 5 years in high traffic areas and 10 years in normal areas…expected service life 25 years.

4. Can I recycle it? Yes, it is 100% recyclable.

5. Does it get hot in direct sunlight? As the system is aluminium it dissipates heat quicker than timber and composite decking.

6. Can you cut the Decking? Yes, Aluminium decking can easily be cut to the shape or length required.
