• It began the 25th of August and end the 11th of September.• In this games participated 83 countries with 5.347 competitors

between them 610 women. • After that the first Paralympics games took place.

2.Important athletes.

• The sailor Paul Elvstrom from Denmark won his fourth gold medals consecutive in Finn class, he was the first athlete in get this in an individual competition.

• The shooter Aladar Gerevich from Hungary got his sixth medals of gold, he is the only athlete in win six times the same competition in different Olympiad. Gert Fredriksson from Sweden also won six medals but in canoe.

• Larissa Latynina from Soviet republic got six medals, three gold medal in individual, team and floor competition, two silver medals in asimetric competition and in balance beam a bronze medal in jump.
