THE OFFSHORE ACCESS SYSTEM

(OAS) 'O' TYPE: FOR USE IN HEAVY SEAS

The OAS is a patented heave-compensated

walkway designed for use in the demanding

conditions of the North Sea to 4 - 4m Hs,

or any similar global offshore environment,

which allows safe access from a support

vessel to an offshore structure.

The system provides a safe, reliable and

cost-effective solution for transferring

personnel offshore. The OAS is installed

onboard ATLANTIC ENTERPRISE. All

that is required on the offshore structure is

a landing zone, OR a bumper bar OR a

vertical pole fitted on the platform.

3 x OPERATION / MODES

1. AHC / Constant tension mode:

The heave-compensation system, which

maintains the end of the walkway at a

constant height, is automatically enabled

into ‘constant tension’ mode when the walkway tip is docked touching an offshore

Platform. Ideal for short time periods.

2. Elephants foot / friction mode

The walkway operates in the same way as

the pole/latch mode above, but uses an

friction pad (elephants foot) to land onto

the platform, so does not require the pole

installation on the landing zone.

in both Pole latch and elephants foot modes the walkway is robustly connected at both ends

to the fixed structure and automatically

compensates for the six movement planes

of the vessel motion, thereby allowing the

safe transfer of personnel to commence

Pole / Latch mode 3. Pole Latch Mode (long term connections)

The walkway is extended and manoeuvred

against a vertical pole on the offshore

installation.

A constant force system ensures that

pressure is exerted against the pole and

the walkway lathes to the pole.

t Once secured the walkway is then lowered

onto the horizontal platform and the

heave-compensation system is disengaged,

which allows the walkway to ‘float’ between

the vessel and the installation..
