The Sultan Kudarat

A simple graduation rite and awarding of certifi-

Agriculture OJT Students Back from Israel

On September 12, 2015, the

6th batch of 19 Agri Students was sent to Israel to undergo the on- the – job training (OJT) based on the Memorandum of Agreement of the Government

of Israel and the Agricultural Colleges Association in the Philippines. 7th Batch of SKSU-SUNAS OJT Students Off for Israel

To keep abreast with

the demands of the industry, the SKSU-College of Agricul-ture and its related fields are continuously sending students to Israel for On-the Job-Training. Students have their practicum for eleven (11) months and are required to enhance their knowledge and skills on the cultural man-agement of different horticul-tural crops like grapes, cut-flowers, and oranges, while other students are assigned in the field of animal husbandry, especially, on large ruminants like those in dairy farms. To date, twenty - one (21) students of SKSU –SUNAS Campus have been fielded in Agrostudies, Israel, namely: Windle Alba, Ian Mark Aman-cio, Jeffrey Angeles, Aljhon Belgira, Roger Berondo, Mi-chael Bolivar, Jovin Camral, Jovelon ferman, Richel Gepilga, Arnold Jalandoni, Harylje Laas, Hendrix Labordo, Gabriel Mateo,Emmanuel

Misiona, Kristianne Joy Poti-car, John Mark Sorilla, Mikko Superioridad, Leonard Tapar, Jason Teves and Jay Lorenz Menasalvas, as well as And two (2) students from Lutayan campus; Rizelle Anne Toledo and Jayson Villegas. Five (5) of them are assigned in Dairy & Poultry, while, the others are as-signed in Horticulture. Part of the training they have is a tour to the holy places in Is-rael and 4 days a month of

Mark Florendo, Julius Zapanta, and Mark Anthony Forro, from the Bagumbayan Campus. To enhance, explore, and up-grade their knowledge in the field of agriculture.

The students were trained for 11 months in order to learn and become equipped with new knowledge in line with agriculture. They are returning home to finish their academic requirements and graduate in their Baccalaureate Degree.

OJT in Agrostudies, Israel is an excellent avenue for our students to practice what they have learned in the Uni-versity. Agro Study in Israel is not only a work but a job to learn and to earn.

Teatro Kalakat Cultural Dance Troupe Bags Award in T’nalak Festival 2016

Sultan Kudarat State University’s Teatro

Kalakat Cultural Dance Troupe joined the

Team Ballroom competition in the Koronadal

Cultural and Sports Complex, City of Koro-

nadal, on July 15, 2016.

As one of the contestants during the Koro-

nadal City’s celebration of the Golden Anni-

versary of its T’nalak Festival, SKSU’s Teatro

Kalakat competed in the Team Ballroom

contest showing off their talents and bringing

pride and honor to the Institution.

Seven (7) competing teams vied for the

championship. Gensan Dance Sport Team

was declared as the champion, followed by

the Tacurong City Dance Sport Team as 1st

runner-up and the Teatro Kalakat Cultural

Dance Sport Team as 2nd runner-up. Members

of the SKSU Team were accompanied by their

adviser Dr. Lilibeth Edaño and Mr. Dexter

Fameniano, their trainer .

The event also included a Hip-Hop competi-

tion in which SKSU also participated.

SKSU’s Health Services Division in partner-

ship with the Philippine Red Cross Tacurong

Chapter, conducted a Mass Blood Donation

in the SKSU ACCESS, EJC Montilla, Tacurong

City, on July 20, 2016 at 8:00- 12:00 noon.

This year’s Mass Blood Donation was open

to all students of ACCESS Campus; BSEd, BEEd,

Nursing and the Criminology Departments

who became active donors, according to Ms.

Camille Marie Urbano, RN, School Nurse. A to-

tal number of 103 donors, including some per-

sonnel and outsiders, donated blood as part of

said event. The theme of the activity was

“Dugong Alay mo, Karugtong ng Buhay ko”,

by this year’s mass blood donation.

Students of any age between 18 to 65

years old with a minimum weight of 50 kilos

were allowed to donate blood. Students be-

low 17 may also donate blood if and when

consent is provided.

“Each donor must donate a 450 ml per

bag of blood. After the donation, all the col-

lected blood will be submitted to the Philippine

Red Cross- General Santos City Chapter for

screening before it is used by other people

who are in need of blood”, Ms. Camille Marie

Urbano said.

Enactus-ACCESS Team Bags 3rd-Runner Up Award

The enactus Philip-pines held its National Finals at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Arena, Pasig City last July 9. Thirteen (13) competing teams vied for the championship: four (4) teams came out victorious. Mariano Marcos State Uni-versity (MMSU) emerged as champion followed by Uni-versity of the Philippines, Los Baños as 1st-runner up and Holy Trinity College of General Santos City as 2nd-runner up. The Enactus team of SKSU-ACCESS brought home the 3rd-runner up awarded.

The National Final competitions were con-ducted in two rounds: the League Round where the competing teams were ran-

domly distributed in four (4) leagues and the Final Round where winners from the earlier round vied for the national title. The AC-CESS Team ranked first in League 3 against rivals Adamson University, Uni-versity of Antique and SKSU-Isulan Campus.

“The (present) ad-ministration is nevertheless thankful for having such organization as this con-cerned about better changes for our country,” said Atty. Salvador “Sal” Panelo, keynote speaker for the National Finals Net-working Night. “As what I have told to our President Rodrigo Duterte, you have a date with destiny and an appointment with his-

tory” he further quoted.

Each competing team has different community pro-jects implemented under the light of Enactus vision and mission and presented at its best during the Na-tional Finals. The ACCESS Team has Vermi-Cast Fertil-izer, Organic Vegetable Gardening and Balut Mak-ing and Selling Enterprise as its projects.

Distinguished person-alities of the business indus-try from across the country as well as other nations made up the set of 100 judges of both rounds. Fur-ther, the champion gets the chance to represent the Philippines in Enactus World Cup in Toronto, Can-ada, this September.

SKSU Braces Faculty for Accreditation; OBE Survey Instrument Orientation Conducted

SETTING THE STANDARDS: Dr. Ruby S. Hech-

anova gives the overview of the orientation and

stresses the importance of proactive management of

the different accreditation areas through collaboration

experiences during internal audit and as ac-

creditors among other SUCs and LUCs.

Dr. Ruby Hechanova presented the sur-

vey instrument on administration, research and

community extension services, while, the instru-

ments for the different areas on faculty, labora-

tories and physical plant facilities were pre-

sented by Dr. Rodelyn Dalayap. Dr. Jeanelle Ar-

gonza presented the VMGO survey instruments

and Dr. Cristobal Ambayon put forward the sur-

vey instruments on the areas of support to stu-

dents and as well as Curriculum and Instruction.

To ensure quality and efficient feats for university

upgrading, the Director for Accreditation and

Quality Assurance, Dr. Jeanelle Argonza con-

ducted an orientation on the Outcomes Based

Education or OBE survey instruments for accredi-

tation in the University Board room, last August 8

at 8:00 AM.

“The seminar was carried out to ensure

that all different campus accreditation staff

members shall be made aware of the different

survey instruments especially that the trend is

now set on the perspective of the OBE” said Dr.

Argonza

“An accreditation area is no longer an

individual island that you are going to work on a

functional silo” Dr. Hechanova, University Liaison

Officer and Focal Person on Halal, stressed dur-

ing the overview of the orientation.

The orientation lasted for a day which

was participated by different faculty and staff of

SKSU campuses whose programs will be sub-

jected for Level III accreditation.

Engr. Eulogio Apellido, Dr. Ruby Hech-

anova and Dr. Rodelyn Dalayap gave the over-

view on the guidelines in preparing and con-

ducting Level III, Phase 2 evaluation, specifically,

stressing on the drawbacks of the university’s dif-

ferent areas for accreditation in relation to their

The 2-day seminar-workshop was participated in by the dif-ferent faculty from the 9 cam-puses; ACCESS, Tacurong, Glan, Isulan, SUNAS, Palim-

NRCP Research Project for Funding and Requirement to become NRCP member and its Benefits. Participants per campus were required to present their output for the Refereed Re-search Journal. Everybody was busy working with his as-signed tasks and was able to present Research Proposals and materials for the Refe-reed Research Journal. It was a fruitful seminar-workshop showing participants’ collabo-ration and enthrallment. As the latter come to end, the University President, Dr. Rolando F. Hechanova, gave his earnest gratitude to the speakers, facilitators and par-ticipants in attendance. He also remarked that he was inspired by Dr. Laurentina Paler-Calmorin to be a book author and encouraged every participant to write a book. It was indeed a produc-tive and successful activity preparing SKSU for the next level of accreditation.

Journalism Seminar-Workshop

was conducted in Fortune

tabato, on September 22-24,

2016.

In her statement of purpose,

sized that the seminar was not

intended for the publication

but to equip themselves, in

order to serve better. “The

1,233 Students Attend Dengue and Anti-Filariasis

Symposium

Sultan Kudarat State University ACCESS

Campus in cooperation with the Tacurong City Health Office conducted a Symposium on Dengue Awareness and Anti- Filariasis Mass Drug Administartion, July 14, 2016, ACCESS, EJC Montilla, Tacurong City, 8:00 in the morn-ing. 1,233 students including the BSEd, BEEd, and Nursing students participated in the said event. The over-all Chairperson on Health Ser-vices of SKSU, Carmela Camila B. Urbano, RN, MAN initiated the symposium. Carmela Camila B. Urbano, RN, MAN gave her Opening remarks. “We should maintain cleanliness in our sorroundings”, she said. Prof. Susie D. Daza, MS, Director for Instruction gave her Inspirational message. The City Sanitary Inspector V Mr. Marlow Anthony Buenacosa, RN was assigned to dis-cuss about the Dengue awareness, “Kung may lagnat na nang dalawang araw, kailan-gan mo ng pumunta sa Health Center o sa inyong mga doctor para magpacheck-up”, Buencosa said . Ms. Lorelie C. Muyuela, RN discussed about the Anti- Filariasis awareness,“Ang filariasis is still the second leading cause of a permanent long term disability”, Nurse Muyuela also ex-plained why students must take the medicine. Before the symposium ended, students were advised to take the prescribed medicine to prevent the attack of Dengue and Filariasis.
