The Odd Couple: No-Scale Multiverse & LHC Dimitri V. Nanopoulos Texas A&M University Houston Advanced Research Center Academy of Athens Research in collaboration with: Tianjun Li, James A. Maxin, Joel W. Walker The 1984 Slasher Photograph will go here. Minimal Supergravity (mSUGRA) M 0 Universal soft scalar mass M 1/2 Universal soft gaugino mass Higgsino Mixing Parameter A 0 Universal Trilinear Coupling B 0 Higgs Bilinear Coupling tan Ratio of Higgs VEVs || and B 0 term can be determined by the requirement for REWSB, so we are left with only five parameters: M 0, M 1/2, A 0, tan , and sgn() Key Experimental Constraints 7-Year WMAP Cold Dark Matter Relic Density Measurement Experimental limits on the Flavor Changing Neutral Current process b s Anomalous magnetic moment of the muon LHC Limits on rare decay B s 0 + - Proton Lifetime greater than 8 x Y LEP limits on the light CP even Higgs mass Compliance with all precision electroweak measurements (M z, s, W, em, m t, m b ) * The Weinberg angle floats mildly according to original program design. No-Scale F -SU(5) with vectorlike particles (b 3 = 0) SUSY spectrum M t1 < M g < M q Prominent decay channels have high multiplicity of third-generation quarks: Pair produced gluinos generate events rich with jets and tau. Considered excellent channel for discovery during early LHC run. LHC early run signatures for 1-3fb 9 jets 1 & 3 b-jets Discovery of No-Scale F -SU(5) Signal at LHC ~~~ ( ) F -SU(5) has peak in number of events shifted to a large number of jets Standard Model and mSUGRA processes have a peak at a lower number of jets This will serve as a very distinct signature of F -SU(5) with vector-like particles However, requires specialized cuts to observe this very distinct characteristic! Lower minimum pt for a single jet to 20 GeV Retain only those events with 9 or more jets Eliminate debilitating cuts enforced by CMS 120.5 GeV M Minimum Minimorum GeV 1 yr Those Bearish on SUSY are howling due to a lack of discovery. CMSSM & mSUGRA have been decimated by LHC. All but completely ruled out. CMS & ATLAS cuts are optimized for CMSSM Discovery (an extinct model)! The cuts are critical! Dont throw the baby out with the bath water. F -SU(5) can explain CMS multi-jet statistical excesses. Golden Strip satisfies ALL known experimental constraints. Most of F -SU(5) is still viable after first 1.1fb -1 of data. F -SU(5) Golden Strip predicts Higgs mass of 120 GeV. 120 GeV is where CMS, ATLAS, D0, CDF are finding excesses. F -U15 Universe Member of Golden Strip. Dynamically determines our physical electroweak scale. F -U15 + SM: 6-8 events with 9 jets for 1.1fb -1 using CMS cuts. Actual CMS data shows 8 events with 9 jets for 1.1fb -1. F -SU(5) Golden Strip 5 discovery at 8fb -1 using CMS cuts with 9 jets. Only 1-4fb -1 necessary for 5 discovery using F -SU(5) 9 jet cuts. 100fb -1 required for F -SU(5) Golden Strip 5 discovery with CMS 3 jet cuts. 12-fold increase in F -SU(5) discovery efficiency by using only 9 jets.
