Lenten Reflection: The Temple of Christ’s Body

In the 6th century B.C., the Jews were in exile. God sent the prophet

Ezekiel who, in a vision, was transported to Jerusalem. He saw the

restored temple in all its glory. On the right side of the temple, water

flowed into a river. God promised

that all that the water touches will

live.

This prefigures the true temple —

the Body of Christ. At the

Crucifixion, water flowed from

the right side of Jesus’ body. The

water of life. All of us who were

touched by this water in Baptism

have become temples of the Holy

Spirit. Let us live accordingly.
