A day out and picnic for classes I, II and III was scheduled for Monday, September 30th, 2019, at Maldevta Farms. All the students came in comfortable, casual clothes and were looking colourful. On reaching Maldevta Farms, the students and teachers were warmly welcomed by the Camp staff. The children were asked to indulge in a start up dance activity followed by numerous other activities like Zip Line and Commando Net. The students also got into the pool for a Splash Party. For snacks we were served chips and juice and for lunch we had burgers, fries and macaroni. The food was really delicious! We had a lot of fun and it was a fantastic experience.

restaurant for lunch.
We stayed in a hotel named ‘The Forest Vines’. Our group was escorted

We woke up early the next day and went to Garjiya Temple. We had to
stand in a long queue as there was a huge crowd of people visiting the
temple. The temple was at a great height. We had to climb 67 large stairs
to reach the temple. On returning from the temple we had our lunch and
went for a jungle safari at The Dhangari Gate. We saw many animals like
deer, peacocks and elephants. After we returned we watched a movie on
Jim Corbett which was highly informative and entertaining.
We began the next day by playing soccer in the morning which was
followed by a trek later in the day. Mr. Satyapal Singh, our guide during
the trek, told us about several plants and weeds in the jungle. The trek
was about 1.5 km long. On our way back we had our lunch in a nearby
hotel. 0n returning to the hotel we had a pool party which was the most
enjoyable part of the entire trip. The evening was followed by snacks and
another movie on Jim Corbett. On the final evening of the trip there was
a surprise dance party. Everyone was in seventh heaven. The next
morning we got an early wakeup call and travelled back to school. This
brought us to the end of the most enjoyable trip which will always be
remembered.

To Chopta – Tungnath - Deoriatal
For a teenager who has spent a few years in a boarding school, Mid-
terms are a part of school life and brings to mind a few things - time spent
with friends, teamwork and a lot of fun. When I read the Itinerary for my
third midterm at The OASIS, I was expecting all of the usual things. The
itinerary listed a lot of places that we would cover on our bus journey to
Kund and Jayalgarh over a period of five days. We were to pack a lot of
activities into this period.
Day 1 started with a long bus journey from school to Kund. This was an
8 hour journey with a few breaks and we finally reached Kund at 7.30 pm.
We were pleasantly surprised to see the bamboo cottages that we were
to share. I settled myself into our cottage that housed me and three other
friends. The cottages dotted a beautiful hillside with a little trek up to the
dining hall. After a chilly but peaceful night, we woke up to a crisp
morning.
After a sumptuous breakfast, we were driven to a village called Sari.
Carrying a bag with a few things in it, we started our trek to Deoriatal.
After a three hour long trek we reached the lake. The lake was beautiful!
It was surrounded by trees and it reflected the Chaukhamba peak in it.
After a packed picnic lunch by the lake, we headed back to Sari and back
to our cottages in Kund. After a short rest, we had a Maggi-making
competition which was a lot of fun.

After a much-needed night’s rest and breakfast, our buses drove us to
Chopta on Day 3. It was a beautiful drive, more so because we passed
three waterfalls and a breath-taking view of snowcapped peaks. From
Chopta, we did a four hour trek to the famous Tungnath Temple, which
is the highest Shiva Temple in Asia. Despite the clouds, it was still a
beautiful view and I am sure we returned with blessing from paying our
respects at the temple. A group of 10 students even volunteered to walk
further and scale up the Chandrashila peak. This took them a little over
an hour to reach. I have to admit that I did not do the Chandrashila trek
and I definitely enjoyed the walk down the slope more that the walk up.
We had a bonfire gathering that night and each cottage came up with a
little act. We sang a song, accompanied by my Ukulele. That gave us
the confidence to give our ‘ensemble’ a name – ‘Fourth Harmony’. What
a wonderfully deep sleep we had that night!
On day 4, enroute to Jayalgarh by bus, we had a very exciting stopover
– 16 kms of river-rafting on the river Alaknanda, which later becomes
the holy Ganga. We were the first rafters of the season. Since I had
never experienced rafting, it was very exciting for me and a little scary
too. When we finally got to Jayalgarh in the afternoon, we had a hot
lunch waiting for us and well-equipped tents for the night. After a much
needed rest, we took part in activities like knot-making, tree-jummaring
and climbing commando nets. They were all interesting activities and
fairly difficult. But it was fun doing them as a group.
The next morning, we left Jayalgarh and headed back to school. We had
a wonderful lunch enroute at Rishikesh and got back to school, tired but
very satisfied with the way the Midterm had turned out. Besides all the
activities, we also returned with stronger bonds of friendship between
us.
I would like to mention here that without the teachers who accompanied
us, this trip would not have been the happy experience that it was.
Thank you, teachers (Ms. Stuti Paul, Ms. Rohini Rawat, Mr. Gaurav
Kumar, Mr.ManojRawat) and many thanks to the GIO team that
organized this wonderful excursion for us. Thank you The OASIS!

National Postal Day is celebrated on 10th October every year. In our school, the morning assembly regarding the same was conducted by Mrs. Himani Kala. During the assembly we were told that this day is observed to celebrate the contributions of the Indian Postal Services. Our school organised a field trip to the Raipur Post Office on 10th October for classes I, II and III. We got to know a lot of things from the Post Master himself. He showed us simple and printed post cards, inland letter and different kinds of stamps. Inside the Post office, we also saw the sorting room where all the mails are sorted out before being delivered. The Post Master also told us that Post Offices also work like a bank where people can open a savings account. We were also told about a scheme where we can print our own personalised stamps. It was an informative and enjoyable experience. We are very thankful to our school for this field trip.

The Royal Rangers Football Academy Soccer camp
On the 15th and 16th of October, 2019, the Royal Rangers Football
Academy held a soccer camp in our school. They had five coaches and
among them was a Bundesliga legend – Wynton Rufer, who played for
Werder Bremen and was awarded the Player of the Century Oceania.
They made us perform various drills and exercises which helped us to
enhance our basic football skills. We played a few fun games and learnt a
lot of new tricks and techniques to improve our game. A quiz was also held
and the winners of the quiz were given stickers.
At the end of the camp, we were all given Wynton Rufer’s autograph and
the best players were given a t-shirt signed by the legend. We were very
happy to meet him and learn from him.
It was a very informative and educational camp and our school ’s football
teams have picked up a lot from this camp which will help them strive
towards better performances in the near future.

All the students had been earlier arranged in pairs. The students had
successfully qualified the first round held in the school.
While last minute revisions took place, the students sat down in the
auditorium where the quiz formally started. The participants were divided
into two categories, Sub-Junior and Junior. After a quick snack, the
participants headed into different directions according to their categories.
The Junior participants warmed up doing a treasure hunt where they were
supposed to run around writing down the various landmarks that had been
allotted numbers, thus learning more about navigation. Meanwhile, the
Sub-juniors had a skill test, where they marked the approximate measure
of weights, lengths and other things like poles and bags and then the vice-
versa. After this, the participants were constantly engaged in completing
their quiz, where in an auditorium, each question was put on the screen for
10-15 seconds and the participants had to tick the correct answer on the
sheets provided to them. The last test was the viva consisting of five
questions that each pair had to answer.
At last, with all the tests given, the participants returned to the school. This
was a learning experience for all the participants.

The programme began with the shloka recitation and lighting of the lamp followed by the school report and a speech by the Head of School. The House cup for the year 2018 – 19 was lifted by Vinaya House. Certificates were awarded for Academic Excellence for the year 2018 – 19 to Yashasvi Kandwal of Class VII and Anshulika Gupta of Class VIII. Tarana Kapur and Arnav Maitreya of Class VII were awarded Certificates for High Standards in All Round Performance for the year 2018 – 19. Arnav Tomar and Hargun Manchanda of Class VII were recognised for their all round effort through the year gone by. The school report and the speech threw light upon the 4 pillars of our school, namely, academic excellence, emotional maturity, spiritual richness as well as shouldering social responsibilities. This was followed by welcome song which was aptly named as ‘Suswagatam’, followed by the western music band, TYB, featuring the school choir. It was a melodiously enthralling performance. The whole auditorium was echoing with loud sounds of claps. Then we proceeded towards the last performance of the evening which was a play, named 'Parasympatico'. This featured the world famous cartoon character Casper-who was a friendly ghost. It had been written and directed by our drama teacher Miss Shweta Vij and executed by the team of our staff and students. The Autumn Rustle was a huge success because of the hard work put in by the staff and students.
