As much modern art as car, the NX refuses to go unnoticed. To create its sharp

yet fluid lines, Lexus designers drew inspiration from the intricate beauty of molten

metal. Approach the NX and the door handles light up to greet you, while a further

statement is made by the dynamic side ‘kick-up’ line and coupé-like silhouette. To

the front, LED triple-projector headlights and arrowhead daytime running lights

depict the unmistakable Lexus aura. To the rear, gem-like LED taillights project our

‘L’ emblem, underscoring the crossover’s powerful shape.

fine-tune the performance of the NX to suit your mood, with modes ranging from

ECO to SPORT S+. In heavy traffic you can switch to EV (Electric Vehicle) mode in

the NX 300h, for zero emissions progress. A strong chassis and Adaptive Variable

Suspension ensure smooth and precise handling, while E-FOUR or All-Wheel Drive

deliver extra confidence in slippery conditions.

the NX’s beautifully finished leather seats. Enhancing cabin freshness in all weather

conditions, S-Flow air conditioning only controls the climate of the seats that are

occupied, while in ECO mode electric seat heaters warm you more efficiently on

cold mornings. For easy manoeuvring, the Panoramic View Monitor provides images

from four discreet cameras. These are located on the front grille, door mirrors (the

cameras even work when the mirrors are folded in) and tailgate – with on-screen

The NX is engineered to reduce driver fatigue. An extra-wide colour Head-Up

Display projected on the windscreen helps you concentrate on the road ahead;

Lane Keeping Assist stops you drifting out of lane and Automatic High Beam

switches to low beam when required. To help avoid danger, Pre-Crash Safety uses

millimetre-wave radar technology to detect objects ahead – applying the brakes and

tightening seatbelts if appropriate. Finally, should you ever be involved in a collision,

With its ‘Shimamoku’ hand-finished wood inserts and beautifully stitched leatherwork,

the NX resets benchmarks for this kind of crossover. Manufactured at our Kyushu

plant in dust-free clean room conditions, paint shop employees go through two

vacuum chambers to remove particles from their special suits and hair. A water

screen – nicknamed Niagara – reduces dust even further. Gleaming paintwork

is produced by hand sanding each foundation coat (a time-consuming process

normally reserved for coach-built cars). Finally, before delivery, every NX crossover

undergoes a 30 km test drive.

FULL HYBRID TECHNOLOGY

EV (ELECTRIC VEHICLE) MODE With sufficient battery charge, EV mode lets you

drive at lower speeds over shorter distances using just

electric power. EV mode is near silent, emissions-free

and consumes no fuel. This is ideal, for instance, when

driving in heavy city traffic or enclosed car parks.

REGENERATIVE BRAKING When braking or decelerating, the front and rear

wheels drive the high-output electric motors so that

they function as generators. Kinetic energy – which

would otherwise be lost as heat – is then captured

and converted into electric power. This is stored in the

hybrid battery for later use.

FULL HYBRID PERFORMANCE The NX 300h delivers 197 DIN hp of super smooth

power. Amazingly, the combined CO2 emissions of

this powerful crossover are just 116 g/km* and fuel

consumption is 5.0 l/100 km*.

2.5-LITRE PETROL ENGINE A highly efficient 155 DIN hp ‘Atkinson Cycle’

4-cylinder petrol engine, with VVT-i valve control

and optimised electronic fuel injection, forms the heart

of the NX 300h’s Full Hybrid powertrain. Start/Stop

technology and exhaust heat recycling help reduce fuel

consumption and emissions even further.

LEXUS HYBRID DRIVE No larger than a conventional automatic transmission,

Lexus Hybrid Drive’s front electric motor, generator

and power split mechanism are all housed in one

highly compact hybrid transmission. Energy flows are

managed by an advanced Power Control Unit that

constantly optimises the allocation of power – electric,

petrol or a combination of both.

HYBRID BATTERY Featuring an innovative split design, and located under

the rear seat so as not to encroach on the NX 300h’s

large luggage space, the hybrid battery provides high

power output in relation to its weight. The NX 300h

recharges its hybrid battery as required – using

electricity generated when driving and braking – thus

avoiding the need for any external charging.

EXPERIENCE LEXUS HYBRID DRIVE

START UP, DRIVING OFF When starting off, the powerful front and rear electric motors can swiftly propel the

NX 300h up to 65 km/h, with electric power supplied by the hybrid battery. At

this point the vehicle is almost silent, uses no petrol and produces zero emissions.

NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS At speeds above 65 km/h the ultra-smooth Atkinson Cycle petrol engine cuts in,

almost silently, while still receiving assistance from the electric motors when required.

Through the near perfect distribution of its petrol and electric power sources, the

NX 300h provides extraordinary driving enjoyment – together with low emissions

and modest fuel consumption.

FULL THROTTLE ACCELERATION Accelerate powerfully and the combined power of the electric motors instantaneously

supplements the 2.5-litre petrol engine. Together they deliver a potent surge of

torque to provide breathtakingly fast linear acceleration precisely when you need it.

DECELERATION, STOPPING, BRAKING When decelerating or coming to a halt, the petrol engine turns off, cutting emissions to

zero. Brake, or take your foot off the accelerator, and regenerative braking harnesses

the kinetic energy lost in other cars. It converts this into electrical energy for storage

in the hybrid battery, which is one reason why you never need to recharge a Lexus

Full Hybrid.

2.0-LITRE TURBO ENGINE Featuring a breakthrough combination of water-cooled cylinder head, integrated exhaust manifold and twin scroll turbocharger, this 2.0-litre turbo engine delivers fast

throttle response, exhilarating performance and high torque at low engine revs. For enhanced fuel economy, innovative valve timing allows the engine to switch between

the Otto and Atkinson cycles. Tested in extremely harsh conditions – including weeks of mountain pass driving at 3,000 m in over 50° C of heat – this engine delivers a

maximum output of 175 kW (238 DIN hp) with a maximum torque of 350 Nm.

INNOVATIVE ENGINEERING The NX crossover range offers an amazing petrol turbo drivetrain in the NX 200t. The engine underwent a gruelling development programme that included over one million miles of test driving in the most extreme conditions.

6-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION The NX 200t’s 6-speed automatic transmission is

designed to deliver maximum power from the turbo

engine. Thanks to its torque-demand control logic,

the system optimises the required engine torque at

any moment, ensuring quick throttle response and

high fuel efficiency.

D-4S Depending on the driving situation, this advanced

injection system distributes the fuel load between the

higher-pressure direct injectors in the cylinder, and

the lower pressure port injectors. Delivering optimum

combustion at all times, D-4S ensures enhanced fuel

economy and excellent low-speed torque.

TWIN ALUMINIUM EXHAUST TIPS Inspired by the exquisitely crafted tail pipes of high-end

motorcycles, the NX design team created a stunning

aluminium exhaust pipe for the NX 200t. It delivers

the refined sound of the high-performance turbo

powerplant with unique style and sophistication.

TURBOCHARGER This highly efficient twin scroll turbocharger has been

engineered to produce high torque right through

the rev range. The shape of the turbine blades has

been optimised, and the friction in the bearing

mechanism reduced, creating a compact high-efficiency

turbocharger with incredibly responsive performance.

EXTREMELY STRONG CHASSIS, ADAPTIVE VARIABLE SUSPENSION With its sophisticated chassis, suspension and steering, the NX is incredibly smooth and refined to drive. Advanced laser screw welding and adhesive bonding techniques

make the NX extremely rigid. This has produced a crossover of great strength, which rewards drivers with superior handling characteristics. Equipped with compact

MacPherson strut front suspension and sophisticated double wishbone rear suspension, the NX delivers outstanding road holding, sedan-like cornering characteristics

and superb straight-line stability. For a more engaging drive, optional Adaptive Variable Suspension intelligently controls the damping force on all four wheels. This not

only improves ride comfort, but also increases handling stability.

DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE To ensure precise and enjoyable performance on all types of road, the NX was first tested and refined in the world’s most advanced driving simulator and then driven over many hundreds of thousands of kilometres in the toughest Arctic and desert conditions.

TRACTION CONTROL Traction Control increases the NX’s ability to grip,

especially when starting off or accelerating on uneven

or slippery surfaces. Corrective measures are applied

the moment the risk of wheel-spin is detected, thereby

maintaining traction.

VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL Vehicle Stability Control helps prevent the loss of vehicle

control, particularly when cornering quickly or at the

onset of a skid. Stability is improved and vehicle speed

lessened by the selective application of brakes and, or,

power reduction.

HILL-START ASSIST CONTROL Hill-start Assist Control maintains brake pressure to

help prevent the NX from moving backwards when

starting off on a slope. Hill-start Assist Control also

minimises wheel-spin on slippery inclines.

ADVANCED AERODYNAMICS The NX has excellent aerodynamics, thanks to a

near-flat underbody and large rear spoiler. To reduce

the overall drag coefficient, Lexus engineers also

redesigned the door mirrors. These measures not only

enhance stability and handling, they also improve fuel

efficiency and reduce wind noise.

DRIVE MODE SELECT Located on the centre console, next to the gearshift,

Drive Mode Select allows drivers to choose between

ECO, NORMAL, SPORT S and SPORT S+ modes, for

maximising the car’s efficiency, dynamism or refinement.

E-FOUR On NX 300h All-Wheel Drive models, E-FOUR

delivers seamless performance and confident traction

over rougher terrain. The innovative E-FOUR drivetrain

features the addition of a 68 DIN hp electric motor

mounted on the rear axle, which delivers instant torque

on demand.

ADVANCED SAFETY The NX crossover has an incredibly strong passenger safety cell and eight airbags, that delivered a 5-star result in Euro NCAP testing. It is also available with advanced Pre-Crash Safety technology. Pioneering driver support systems include Automatic High Beam, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

EIGHT AIRBAGS In addition to an immensely strong passenger safety cell, occupant security is provided by eight airbags. The driver and front

passenger are protected by 2-stage head airbags and side airbags. Additionally, in a frontal collision, while a knee airbag

protects the driver, a seat cushion airbag prevents the front passenger from slipping forward under the seatbelt, significantly

reducing the chance of injury. Curtain shield airbags run the full length of both cabin sides. All seatbelts, except for the centre

rear seat, are also specified with pre-tensioners. This exceptional level of safety protection is provided as standard in the NX.

WHIPLASH INJURY LESSENING SEATS The front seats are designed to minimise

whiplash inducing neck motion in a rear

impact. Reinforced seat frames allow the

torso to sink into the seatback, while the

placement of the headrest supports the

head more effectively.

n PRE-CRASH SAFETY Millimetre-wave radar and an on-board

computer calculate collision risk ahead.

If the risk is high, the driver is alerted by

audible and visual warnings and brake

pressure is increased. When a collision

is deemed unavoidable, the brakes will

be applied automatically as necessary

and the front seatbelts tightened.

n AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM At night, Automatic High Beam uses a camera

mounted behind the rear-view mirror to automatically

switch to low beam when it detects the lights of either

an oncoming or preceding vehicle. This reduces

the chance of accidentally dazzling other drivers should

you forget to switch off the high beam headlights.

n REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT When reversing, for instance in a busy car park, the

Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) function uses the Blind

Spot Monitor radar to detect vehicles approaching the

difficult-to-see area behind the vehicle. When a vehicle

is detected, the RCTA function alerts you with a visual

display in the door mirrors and a buzzer.

n ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL To help reduce driver fatigue, Adaptive Cruise Control

(ACC) maintains a set distance between the NX and

the vehicle ahead, even if that vehicle varies its speed

or comes to a complete stop. Once the road is clear,

ACC automatically returns to the originally specified

cruising speed.

n LANE KEEPING ASSIST This innovative technology helps prevent the driver from

inadvertently drifting out of lane, by way of a warning

and the automatic application of a brief corrective

steering force.

n BLIND SPOT MONITOR Radar devices mounted in the rear bumper detect

vehicles in adjacent lanes that are not visible in the

door mirrors. If the driver is indicating to change lane,

and a vehicle enters the blind spot, the Blind Spot

Monitor instantly activates a warning signal in the

relevant door mirror.

n Available as an option, part of a pack or standard on specific grade(s).

EURO NCAP 5-STAR RATING Providing an independent and realistic assessment

of safety performance, the NX crossover has been

awarded a maximum 5-star rating in prestigious

2014 Euro NCAP tests. Scores for all areas were

well above the minimum required to achieve five stars,

with maximum points scored in the side barrier impact

test, placing the NX amongst the very safest vehicles

in its segment.

17" ALLOY WHEELS Only available on the NX 300h – and fitted as standard

on the Eco grade – these 10-spoke deep gloss wheels

are equipped with 225/65 R17 tyres for low running

resistance and excellent functionality.

n 18" ALLOY WHEELS Standard on Comfort, Business and Executive grades,

this intricate u-shaped spoke design creates a sharp

and radical profile, while 225/60 R18 tyres complete

the bold sports look.

higher grades benefit from full LED illumination of the

carpets. The driver’s mat has a special

safety fixing to hold it firmly in place.

TEXTILE FLOOR MATS Luxurious black textile mats made of

acuvelour to complement the sound

absorbing qualities of your car’s carpets.

The driver’s mat has a safety fixing to

prevent it from slipping.

DETACHABLE TOWING HITCH* Integrates with the NX’s chassis to

evenly distribute the pulling and braking

forces of towing, thus minimising the risk

of stress damage to your crossover. It

has a 1500 kg towing capacity and the

hitch removes when not required. The

purpose-designed wiring kit includes

safety buffers to shield your car’s electrics

can even use it at home with a suitable power adapter. An additional docking device,

DVD unit and wireless headphones are available as extras.
