Russo Chinese Bank, 300 cash, 1898, serial number 0025776, vertical format, blue printing on white paper, the borders in a strong traditional Chinese style with ‘Fu’ ‘Lu’ and ‘Shou’ at top, The Eight Immortals in the left and right borders and ‘He He Er Xian’ at the bottom, 4 official red stamps on the obverse, uniface note as issued, (Pick S504), PCGS Gold Shield Grading 45Details. An extremely rare note showing the bank was willing to adopt similar designs to local Chinese notes, as well as the unusual denomination.Of the greatest rarity and sure to be of interest to collectors of foreign bank issues in China.

The Wang Ho Bank of the Republic, Military Banknote, $1, local currency, 1.1.1912, serial number 18752, brown border again a pale green background, black Chinese text stating issuing authority, date and denomination, reverse green, the equivalent in English text, Anhui Province declared independence from the Qing Empire on 8th November 1911 and the Wuhu Military Government was formed on the 10th. The military expenditure was huge and the local Ministry of Finance was asked to issue banknotes to alleviate the situation. All local miliary governments were dissolved by February 1912 and thus this became an extremely short lived and rare issue. Only $1 notes from this bank have survived. (Pick no listed), original about very fine, strong centre fold and exceedingly rare
