The Northern Ireland Club welcomes youto the Holstein UK Celebration 2017
28th & 29th June
President’s Foreword
Northern IrelandClub Chairman
It is my great pleasure welcoming you to Northern Ireland and the Holstein UK Celebration & AGM.Northern Ireland is well known for a wide variety of things, many of which we hope to cover during the Celebration.
Famed for lush green grass, we are visiting two outstanding herds of Holstein cows, both of which make fantastic use of this natural resource. To compliment the herd visits, we have also organised alternative visits to two top quality gardens, both with different attractions.
On the lighter side we have stunning coastal scenery, talk of ‘Giants’, the world’s oldest whiskey distillery and plenty of ‘Ulster craic’.
The very nature of dairy farming and Holstein cattle breeding brings each breeder in contact with a wide variety of people and suppliers. We are very grateful to many of these businesses who are supporting the
On behalf of the Northern Ireland Club I would like to extend to you all a very warm welcome to our province. We are delighted that David has been chosen as President and are humbled to be hosting this year’s Celebration. I hope your time here will be both enjoyable and relaxing.
Celebration with their very generous sponsorship; it is greatly appreciated.
Holstein NI is an extremely active and vibrant Club, run by a committee led by our current Chairman, assisted and organised by Holstein UK’s Field Officer and a PR Officer. My thanks to them for nominating me and for their fantastic support in organising the Celebration together with the staff at Telford and the two host herds, Abercorn and Simlahill.
Special thanks to my family; my wife Beatrice who has always understood the ‘other females’ in my life, our children and my brother and business partner Austin - without them this would not be possible.
Thank you all for coming, I hope you all enjoy the cows, the scenery, the people and the Celebration of our wonderful breed at the start of my year as your President. I consider being in Office the highest honour and privilege a breeder can have.

Tour: Bushmills Distillery BT57 8XH
In the small village of Bushmills, settled on the banks of the river, you’ll find the oldest working distillery in Ireland. For over 400 years, the distillery has kept to the philosophy that hand crafting small batches is the best way to produce beautifully smooth tasting Irish whiskey. www.bushmills.com/distillery

Tour: Dunluce Castle BT57 8UY
First built on the dramatic coastal cliffs of north Co Antrim, the iconic ruin of Dunluce Castle bears witness to a long and tumultuous history.
