the next 8 track Format, format, format. What happens when there’s a new, better Blu-Ray?* What happens when there’s a new, better MP3? What happens when there’s a new, better internet?!

It's never going to end. Formats change. And if someone doesn’t make sure to convert the material you leave behind, it will become obsolete– guaranteed. Chances are, if you’re reading this in 2012, you experienced the transition from VHS to DVD. You know what this is like firsthand. If you don’t, go try to find a Best Buy that will sell you a VHS player, and find out for yourself. If you want to save your DVDs and MP3s and whatever else from extinction, it’s recommended that you leave instructions in your will. *Consider the clash between formats that happen because certain companies back certain formats. Right now, it would be relevant to cite the battle between Blu-Ray, DVD, and Netflix-like resources. As consumers, we’ve never had more control than we do now.

But our content's longevity may pay the

price.
