Principals Report Week 4 Last week we had a wonderful turnout for our first P&C meeting of the year. It was great to see so many interested parents with
some great ideas and such a positive attitude for the school. The P&C Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 8 March,
commencing at 7:00 pm in the Vacy School of Arts hall across the road from the school. At the AGM, all positions will be declared
vacant and nominations for 2016 positions will be decided by an election. The AGM will be followed by a general meeting. There
will also be a parent forum following this meeting with random invitations from each class being sent out tomorrow. As always,
ideas, concerns and congratulations are welcomed and encouraged at any time.
Our PSSA Swimming Carnival was held today and it is very encouraging to see the strong participation which is the Vacy way.
Selection to the Maitland District PSSA Swimming Carnival is made according to times and students who go on to represent Vacy
PS at the Zone Carnival will be informed and receive a permission note. The Zone Carnival will be held next Tuesday 23 February.
The Before and After School Care committee are on the lookout for
someone to plaster and fit out the old sports shed as it will be used to store
the BASC sports equipment. If you know of someone who would be
interested, please let them know that the BASC would welcome them
quoting for the job.
During the day, the school gates are closed to ensure that all of our
students are safe and that risks are minimised. At present, we need to be
extra vigilant with closing the gates, including the staff car park gates, to
manage the safety of some of our younger students. We do ask that, if the
gate was closed when you came upon it, then please close the gate once
you have passed through. If in doubt, please close the gate.
Kind regards,
David Stone

Payments The school is continuing a policy wherein any events or activities that require payment need to have notes sent home at least
2 weeks before the event or activity occurs. We will endeavour to give as much notice as possible for all events. Please look
out for any notices in the newsletter, on the school website and Facebook page. As part of this policy we will be strictly
adhering to the cut off dates for payments. Unfortunately, this means that if payment has not been received by the due date
then your child will miss out on that activity. Whilst we all would rather not see this happen it is important for organisational
procedures, fairness for all families and for us to successfully meet our auditory requirements. Of course, exceptional
circumstances will always be considered on an individual basis and I strongly encourage anyone to contact me if there are any
issues or difficulties meeting payment schedules for anything at school.

Canteen News Are you aware of the “green” rated items on our canteens menu? The Healthy Kids Association rates food in a traffic light
system. Green foods are high in nutrition and low in saturated fat, sugar and salt. Our menu has a high percentage of green
food available. In fact around 65% of the menu is green. All of our drinks are rated green. If you were wanting to guide your
child towards a more nutritional canteen order you could include any of these tasty options: popcorn, veggie sticks, English
muffin with ham, pineapple and melted cheese or a smoothie for recess (to name a few) then follow it up with a works or
cheeseburger, tossed salad with cold meat or one of our freshly made salad sandwiches in the shape of a wrap, bread roll or
wholegrain bread sandwich. Lunch time treat not forgotten how about a Juicy Tube ice block, a frozen watermelon slice or a
frozen pineapple ring. With so many options available everyone should be able to find something that they enjoy to eat and
be filled up with nutritious goodness ready for a big day of learning.
Busy cooking up our nutritious goodness this week was Karen, Elizabeth, Heidi and Loren.
Thank you for your time and effort
