Here it is Fall already. Where did the summer go? As I get older, the years seem to go by faster. They should go by slower because it takes me longer to do the same jobs.

I finally got my ’70 Pontiac 400 motor, so I can get the 389 out of my Ventura, put it into the ’61 wagon and get both cars back on the road this fall. I only need the ’61 or ’62 2-door sedan doors to convert the wagon to an El Camino. Also, I need to sell about a half-dozen other cars that I’ll never be able to finish. Simple, huh?

Looking forward to Wisconsin next year. Hopefully, one of the Pontiacs will make it.

Till next time, Happy Halloween; this is mid-September and the candy and decorations are already in the stores.

This is my sixth column for the PCPV News, so I have been collecting and sharing my thoughts with you for a full year. It’s been fun. My fun meter is still on high as I think back to the POCI Convention in Fort Worth. I didn’t bring a car, so I went on all three of the group tours. I hitched a ride with Clint Scherger as we drove the Texas Motor Speedway in his 1970 2+2 hardtop. And on Saturday, I went for a ride in the NASCAR limo. Kinda made me homesick for my ’76 Catalina limo back in my garage in New Jersey.

Locally, I have been hitting our car show and cruise night circuit, campaigning my ’86 Parisienne hearse and my ’70 Superior ambulance. Both of these professional cars have been well received. Many people around these parts know me as the “Hearse Guy” or the “Ambulance Guy”. I adore the adulation.

We have a plethora of traditional car shows during the summer, as I suspect you have in your part of the country. But occasionally, I hear of another type event as-sociated with fire apparatus. These are called musters, and they are sometimes held to celebrate a fire company’s acquisition of a new piece of equipment. The best way that I would describe them is to say that they are car shows exclusively for fire trucks and ambulances. My 1970 Superior ambulance has been my admission ticket. These events are very special and I try to keep networked with the fire truck organizations to learn about them. One final Pontiac thought. I have been driving my G6 convertible a lot, as I enjoy riding in an open car. (That retractable hardtop doesn’t get wrinkled like the old rag tops!) Anyway, I stumbled upon a song on youtube called Like a G6. Ironically, the song was released in 2010, the same year as Pontiac’s demise. It’s a drinking song for millennials, and I urge you to check out the music video. The song is very lively. I sing the chorus loudly every time I go around a curve in my G6. Then I enjoy a cold adult beverage when I get home! Wayne Guy, PCPV Chapter VP

2017 Professional Car Society MeetWelcome New Member

One Pontiac attended the PSC’s 2017 International Meet (held in Lebanon, Mis-souri July 19-22): Mike Riefer’s 1952 National Pontiac Ambulance. It earned the “Host’s Choice Award” from Lebanon Funeral Director Ken Howe.

The meet-concluding “sound and light show” was memorable for taking place while lapping the I-44 Speedway east of Lebanon.
