Castellino is featured speaker on April 14Robert Castellino, a Lafayette

photographer known for por-traits, weddings, events, archi-tectural, fine art and golf course photography and is the author of five photography books, will be the featured speaker at the Flat-irons Photo Club monthly meet-ing at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 14.

His topic is entitled “The Making of Extraordinary Im-ages, Projects and Excur-sions,” and will include infor-mation about the process for making photos.

His books include The Colo-rado Roadside Photography Guide; Boulder: Heart & Soul, People & Place; Colorado: Heart & Soul; Denver: Gateway to the Rockies; and Boulder: Yesterday and Today—A Photo-

graphic Retrospective.The Colorado Roadside Pho-

tography Guide includes photos as well as maps and directions

to each scenic location.He has taught photography at

the Music and Arts Conserva-tory of Santa Barbara, Boulder

Digital Arts, Mike’s Camera, and through his own photo-graphic workshops.

Castellino also is the founder and CEO of Climate Colorado, which is an attempt to build a movement to move the state away from burning fossil fu-els and reduce the state’s water footprint by half by the year 2020. In 2015, he gave a TEDx talk in Vail about working to solve climate issues.

He also works as a consultant to artists, authors, photographers and business managers/owners and creates marketing materi-als, websites, social networking campaigns and dynamic promo-tional events, as well as helping with direct sales, lead develop-ment and sales networks.

OPENING APRIL 15: Thomas Walsh, a former Flatirons Photo Club president and the current Photographic Frontiers Study Group co-director, is currently Invited Guest Artist at Boulder Digital Arts. He invites you to attend his display reception on Friday, April 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will include food and beverages as well as great conversation and will take place at BDA, 1600 Range St. Suite 100 (on the northeast corner of Range Street and Arapahoe Avenue), Boulder.

• CALL FOR ENTRIES FOR LOUIS-

VILLE NATIONAL PHOTO SHOW: The deadline for entering the Louisville National Juried Photography Show is April 16. There are seven categories for entries and there are more than $7,000 in cash awards and prizes. Dona Laurita is the judge. She is a founding member of the Sliding Door Gallery in the Santa Fe Arts District of Denver, and has recently opened her own Fine Art gallery in Old Town Louisville. • WALSH TO TALK ABOUT CHILD

ABUSE PROJECT: Thomas Walsh will

give a presentation on his still photo and video project involving the abuse of children by nuns from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at Tina Davis Studio, 947 Kim-bark St., Longmont. The meeting will take place under the auspices of LightOn Creatives for Community, a Longmont based group of creatives actively in-volved in further expanding the already burgeoning Longmont art scene.

• VIDEOGRAPHER FEATURED AT

STUDY GROUP: Oaken Beeson, the videographer who delivered the well-attended Photographic Frontiers Study Group meeting on March 2, will present a talk on post-processing videos taken with DSLRs. If you attended his March talk, you know that he is extremely knowledgeable, articulate and able to ex-plain how photographers can easily ex-pand their work/hobbies into video. The presentation will take place on Wednes-day, April 6, at Boulder Digital Arts. A more detailed announcement will be posted to the photo club’s website and email list within the next few days.

• DARKROOM PHOTO GALLERY

CONTEST OFFERS $1,000 PRIZE: The Darkroom photo gallery in Long-mont is sponsoring a photography com-

petition with a $1,000 cash prize for first place, cash prizes for second and third place, honorable mentions and an exhibition. The theme of the national ju-ried contest is “Architecture. Structure. •CALL FOR ARTISTS FOR NCAR

GALLERY: Individuals interested in submitting their work for exhibits at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder consideration may register via http://scied.ucar. edu/exhib-its/community-art-program. The dead-line for registration is April 11 at 5 p.m. There is no fee. Flatirons Photo Club President Bruce Henderson is one of the judges for the series of exhibits that will be displayed throughout 2017.
