The new northern beaches and lower north shore bus network Including the new bus service
Commencing 26 November 2017
Transport for NSW
Changes to the northern beaches and lower north shore bus network Travelling on the northern beaches and lower north shore will undergo a major transformation from 26 November with the introduction of a new bus network delivering more frequent and reliable services throughout the region.
Coinciding with the implementation of the new turn-up-and-go B-Line service, new timetables and routes have been developed to provide better bus connections for the northern beaches and lower north shore communities and overall improvements to the network.
The new northern beaches and lower north shore bus network provides more than 3,200 additional weekly bus services, including over 2,000 weekly B-Line services. As part of these public transport improvements, new road infrastructure is being delivered to help local traffic flow more easily and make bus services more reliable.
Further road improvements, along with the planned extension of the B-Line route to Newport, will be progressively completed throughout 2018 when the full benefits of the program will be realised.

Travel Choices – changing the way you travelWith changes to the northern beaches network and the introduction of the B-Line, now is a great time to reconsider your travel choices for getting to work!
Sydney is going through unprecedented change so driving may no longer be your fastest or most reliable transport option. Adjusting the way you travel can also help you save time and money. It can also help address traffi c congestion, cut carbon emissions and improve your health and well-being.
Here are a few simple ways to improve your journey and still get you to where you need to be on time.
Use our new services and leave the car at home
Public transport can be a more reliable alternative to driving. Using our new services allows you more time to concentrate on something more enjoyable such as reading a book or planning your next holiday.
Retime your journey and beat congestion
Take advantage of our extra bus services, if you can, avoid travel during the AM or PM peak hours.
Reduce the number of times you need to travel during the peak
Flexible working has been shown to enhance productivity, health and well-being and provides you with more commuting options. Alongside our new timetable, take advantage of your organisation’s fl exible working arrangements and travel outside the peak more often.

Bus fares and using your Opal card:
The Opal card is the cheapest and easiest ticket option when travelling across Sydney.
The Opal card is a smartcard you keep and reuse. You can put credit on your card then tap on and tap off on your public transport service to pay your fares and even change public transport modes.
The B-Line services are prepay only, so you will need an Opal card to pay for your travel on these buses.
Fares are based on:
• The type of card you use
• The distance and mode that you travel
• Opal benefits such as discounts and capped fares that can apply
How to get an Opal card
You can get Adult or Child/Youth Opal cards over the counter at various retailers across the northern beaches.
If you are eligible for concession fares you can apply for a Gold Senior/Pensioner or Concession Opal card.
Visit transportnsw.info/opal or call 13 67 25 for more information.

Accessible services
All new buses are wheelchair accessible with low-level floors and space for wheelchairs, prams or strollers, including the new B-Line buses. You can use the transportnsw.info trip planner to plan your trip with accessible vehicles. Look for the symbol located in your trip planner, on timetables available at bus stops and on the side of the bus, to assist with your public transport planning.
