Project Changes for Class of 2017 and Beyond

16 hours of Community Service

-4 hours for each year of high school

--You will need to complete 12 hours this year and 4 hours

next year.

--You will need to write a reflection paper for this years 12

hours and another reflection paper for next year’s 4 hours.

Job Shadow is a one day experience

-You must interview a person doing your job and

experience as many aspects of the job as possible

-You will need to take notes to questions answered during

the interview and write a reflection paper.

Junior Year Research Paper

All components completed and uploaded to the

Journal section of the Naviance Website.

-Format for your birthdate is MMDDYYYY

recorded and verified with a signature

and choose the career pathway you think you will take after high school.

Type the classes you took, are taking, and are planning to take into the tables provided.

Click on the “Choose One” and select whether the class was Core or Honors.

Upload this document to your Naviance Journal as “Four Year Plan” when finished.

-Must be outside of school time.-Must be related to your career interests or for a cause that you are passionate about.

Print and Fill Out the Community Service Prior Approval Form from the Kentwood website.

All Community Service Hours must be recorded and signed off on the Community Experience Time Log on the Kentwood website.

When you have finished your Community Service, you will need to write a three paragraph reflection paperabout your experience. -Directions for the Community Service Reflection Paper are on the Community Service Prior Approval Form.

For each high school grade year, show evidence of awards, recognition and/or accomplishments by making a list of:

-curricular, co-curricular, and/or extra-curricular achievements in school

-achievements outside of school

Examples that students may want to include in their success planner:

-First Aid/CPR card, Life Guard card, Eagle Scout recognition, Involvement in religious group, Religious choir, Kentwood clubs, Kentwood sports, Community sports: bowling league, Kent/Renton soccer, football, volleyball leagues, Awards such as Employee of the Month, Awards received as part of a team (player of the week, most improved, etc), Team Academic recognition, Scholarships, Participation in school plays

Junior Research Paper

Kentwood students can submit a research paper

from English 11, AP Language and Composition, US

History, or AP US History.

Running Start students can submit a paper from

their English &101 or History 135, &137, or 220 classes.

Paper must have a bibliography or works cited

page with a minimum of three sources.

Must have earned a minimum of a “C” grade or 72

percent or 2.0 depending on how the paper was

scored.

Proof of Grade must be submitted with paper.
