The Central Nervous System
Unit 4 - Body Systems
The Central Nervous System
The Spinal Cord!Your spinal cord is a
bundle of nerves that runs down the middle of your back. It carries signals back and forth between
your body and your brain.
The Brain The primary control center organ containing billions of nerves that can process information from our bodies, operate internal organs, generate thoughts and emotions, store and recall memories, and
control movement.
Sensory Organs!Located on your fingers and toes,
in your mouth, nose, and eyes. Sensory organs sense what is in
the outside environment and sends that information to the brain.
How It Works
object is viewed by eyes
nerve cells detect what the eyes can
see
information is transmitted through
the spinal cord
brain analyzes the information sent
from the spinal cord
