I. Beginning the Neolithic Revolution• What was life like during Paleolithic times (Old

Stone Age)?– People were Hunters and Gatherers, they migrated

many places. – Since people kept moving around do you think they

trade not only goods but also ideas and customs?• Yes, they did! This is called CULTURAL DIFFUSION: the

exchange of ideas, customs, or goods across cultures.• Do you think it was easy for nomads to keep

searching for their food? • What would have made the Paleolithic nomad’s

life easier?– Knowing how to farm! Then nomads wouldn’t have to

keep moving.• When people learned how to Farm the Neolithic

Revolution began!

III. The Impact of Agriculture• After the Neolithic Revolution more

abundant (extra) food helped the human population to increase.

• Human life changed in many ways.– People permanently settled in villages– When resources became scarce (limited)

villages went to war. Chiefs or headmen were created. Some men, such as warriors, held great power.

– People began to create new technology. Examples were: the wheel, metal weapons, and metal tools.

• The changes paved the way for civilizations to emerge (come to be).
